I had this entry ready to go before I went to Chicago, and somehow never got around to posting it, so most of these stories are from early July or late June, though I've added a couple recent ones. I am so behind on bigbang reading and don't know when I'll catch up, though there are several stories I really want to read. Read more... )

But caveat lector: for those of you new to this journal, my recs often contain criticism of the stories, so don't click if you don't want to read that. Read more... )

There are still probably at least 30 stories from this year's round of SPN bigbang I have not yet even looked at, but work has gotten insanely busy so I have no idea when I will get to them. But here's one last set of recs. As always, if you don't like crit mixed with your recs, don't click: Read more... )

A few more SPN recs, though I am way, way behind with bigbang, and will only get more so since I am going out of town this week and my second job returns next week, so I'll be back to 14 hour days. A pity, since spn summergen starts posting this week, not to mention a couple stories I've been waiting all summer for will be going up on bigbang.

As always, if you like your recs unmixed with crit, please don't click. Read more... )

A few stories from SPN bigbang I really liked, and a few I liked but had mixed feelings about. If you only like recs that contain no criticism of stories, please don't click on the link. Read more... )

I suppose the one good thing about heat-related insomnia is that I'm slowly catching up on bigbang stories. And I liked more of them than normal this week, though that might be the sleep deprivation! Read more... )

[livejournal.com profile] elizah_jane wrote me an amazing prequel to her bigbang story . The prequel centers on Misha and Clare's relationship--how they first met. (The fandom is CWRPS, for those of you who didn't read the original story). The original story itself is mostly J2 with a side of Jensen/JDM, but had a pretty amazing Misha Collins paired with the best OC I've ever read in RPS--Clare--so I asked [livejournal.com profile] elizah_jane to please write me a story about how they met. It's hilarious and wonderful and has made me fall even more in love with Clare, and I think everybody should read it and tell her how much they loved it so she will write more Clare. And I'm sorry this rec comes so long after the story was posted--I think I was either hibernating or having work craziness that week and it slipped through the cracks.

Also, for the three people in fandom who haven't already read it, [livejournal.com profile] pandarus finished her epic Merlin/Arthur AU The Student Prince last weekend, and I devoured it whole in one sitting (all 150,000 words of it), because it is just that good. I'm not in Merlin fandom and have only seen a couple episodes of the show, but this was really the best love story I've read in ages, and probably my favorite college fic of all time. It's set at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and a lot of the fun of the story is seeing Merlin, Gwen and Arthur go through all the traditions associated with the school, but I think what I loved most about the story is how well it captures the sense of adventure and possibility associated with leaving home for the first time and getting to make your own choices.

Between work and actually having a social life, I'm way behind on reading spn bigbang stories, but here are some that I've enjoyed in the past couple weeks: Read more... )

I went back and looked at my recs tag for last summer's big bang and noticed that I did the same thing I am probably doing this year: for the first 4 days or so I reviewed all the stories, and then I started posting only recs of stories I actually loved, at first three times a week or so and then gradually trickling down to once a week or so. So from here on out I'll probably only talking about the stories I either really liked or really hated. Read more... )

Wow, everyone posting today wrote REALLY long stories, so I'm only partway through, but thought I'd better post recs while I still remember the stories. More positive than some of my earlier reviews, though as always if you are allergic to criticism with your reviews, caveat lector. Read more... )

I can't keep doing this everyday--I was SO unproductive at work today!--but here are a few more SPN bigbang story responses, including a couple of actual recommendations. Again, don't click if you don't like criticism mixed with your recs.Read more... )
