Everyone obviously has their own opinion about season 7, and I don't actually mind critical comments on the show; it's really more the false sense of consensus that "everybody" hates the show now that drives me batty.
Yes, exactly. It irritates me too when the notion of the latter SV seasons being much worse in quality is treated as a fact and not as an opinion that's in many cases colored by the direction, undesired by some fans, in which the show went after S4 IMO. Specifically, while I understand that S4 could've provided a better transition from merely dysfunctional to actively antagonistic Clex, it's not like it wasn't clear from day one that we're headed towards it. And, like you, I thought that seasons 5-7 were actually very good in many elements (Clex relationship included).
