bigbang recs, day 2

Even more awesome bigbang recs--and one bonus non-bigbang rec (all CWRPS or SPN) behind the cut:

Dorsum ad dorsum by [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic (Gen, SPN)
I'm a sucker for AUs where Mary lives, and (despite the fact that I love happy endings) I'm also a sucker for AUs where things go differently but Sam and Dean's lives end up just as fucked up. In this one, John saves Mary from the fire, but that doesn't solve their problems; Mary ends up fleeing with Sam, and Sam and Dean grow up apart. This has such an interesting characterization of Mary, and the consequences of her choices, and I really love the ending.

Entangled Alliances by [livejournal.com profile] rei_c (Sam/Dean UST)
Rei_c is a master worldbuilder; her bigbang story from last year (where Jared is a temple priest educating Jensen about life) was probably my favorite story of the year, and I also really love her vodou AU, so it's no surprise to me that she has once again created a fascinating and compelling universe that I just want to spend a lot of time rolling around in.

In this world, the world is divided into regular humans, Witches (who rule over most of the large cities in the world), Hunters (who live on the outskirts), and Rogues (powerful beings like Azazel who oppose both Witches and Hunters). The Witches and Hunters have different skills that can be complementary, but they are also often at odds with each other. Dean Winchester is a skilled Hunter tracking a very dangerous Rogue, and forms an alliance with the Lady, the head Witch of Nouvelle Orleans, who sends her son Sam with him to help him take down Azazel.

There is no actual sex in this story, but it nevertheless has several extremely erotic scenes, and the glimpses we get into the culture of this world, so different from our own, are tantalizing. I really enjoyed this story, even though it has an unfinished feel; although the story is complete in and of itself, part of their quest is left unfulfilled. I really hope the author is planning sequels.

My Name Is Trouble by [livejournal.com profile] chash. (Jared/Jensen) Chash is always happy-making, so I saved this for last, and it was totally worth it. I didn't even mind the fact that I had to cut and paste all of part one into a word file to avoid using the horizontal scroll bar. (The width of the art seems to have messed up the page formatting).

Six years after Supernatural ended, Jared and Jensen aren't in communication anymore--in fact, Jared left Hollywood to become a high school physics teacher--but when Jensen has a stalker problem, there's only one person he can trust to hide out with. And being in close proximity to Jared means they finally have to deal with all their unresolved issues. Wonderful, fun, romantic, and featuring a kick-ass Danneel Harris.

And a bonus, non-bigbang story (though it is 10,000 words): Fandom is SrS Bznz by [livejournal.com profile] elizah_jane (Jensen/Misha). Stories in which stars start acting like fangirls either squick me out hardcore or make me laugh like a hyena. This one falls into the latter category. Jensen decides to create a sockpuppet fangirl persona, and inadvertantly gets into a series of flamewars with Misha Collins' sockpuppet fangirl persona. Things escalate when they find out who is behind the respective sockpuppets, leading to a hilarious game of chicken in which they end up having increasingly competitive sex. This story is one of the funniest things I've ever read, and also unbelievably hot. I think my favorite parts are little snippets we get from the over-the-top fics they write for each other.

So thankyou for these recs...I've got them all open up on tabs right now (next to the other gazillionty that happens when RL gets in the way of all the reading you just HAVE to do - okay want to do but still) and I shall be very interested in the elizah jane one since coming from you "one of the funniest things I've ever read" is definitely a big deal. Will let you know what I think :)

Hee! I'm not sure they exactly qualify as recs, considering I have simply babbled happily about every single bigbang story posted so far. I haven't yet decided what to do when I hit one that I don't like. Fortunately most of them have been on the shorter end of things (20,000 words or so) so I can still keep up!

The thing about "Fandom is Srs Bznz" is that I completely love meta humor when it is well done, and she does it fabulously. Plus apparently games of gay chicken that lead to hot sex and then even hotter sex is apparently my bulletproof kink. Who knew?????
