Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

1. Tell us something about yourself:

I've never had a boyfriend or girlfriend but I sure would like one.
Also, I'm a bit of a loner, which explains my lurker status in almost every fandom I'm in.

2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):

John, Rodney, Dean, Sam, Supernatural, SGA, SV, The Sentinel, good bad fic, mpreg, ice cream, rum, books, my pets, flowers, photography, bubble baths, food, and many more things.

3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):

Mary/Marty Sues, female characters who think they have to be "tough" to be strong, death fics (unless they're EXTREMELY well written), spinach, tomatoes, mornings, bugs, spiders, most 1st person POV novels, people who don't like animals or kids.
4. What got you interested in Smallville? The Pretty and the Fanfic.
5. What are your favorite SV episodes? Um since I've only seen about three or four episodes, i really don't have a fave ep.
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often? Anything by [livejournal.com profile] seperis, [livejournal.com profile] merryish, [livejournal.com profile] lanning, janete, and others.
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.) There's too many things out there to have a favorite food, but I do love starchy and/or carb laden fair the most. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything pukey green in color. My pet's names are Sky, Brandon, Dane, and Leary (two dogs and two cats), I think I have like 5 pair of shoes, the rest of them are my sis' as she's the shoe hog in the family. :D If I was a billionaire I think I'd probably live right where I'm at cause that's where my family is, but I sure would do a lot of visiting. :D

Thanks for having the party! :D

Also, I like your icons too! :D

I'm with you on quite a few of your dislikes: I can't stand tomatoes (I'll pick them out of anything I eat), and I really am not too fond of 1st person POV stories at all. They have to be superbly written for me to like them even the least bit. Otherwise, they just completely fail to capture my imagination.

I pick tomatoes out of my food too! Do you get the same strange looks that I do, when you pick them out?

I don't know why I don't like 1st Person POV, though, like you, if it's superbly written then I'm all over them. :D

[identity profile] talitha78.livejournal.com 2006-05-27 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! People just don't understand the life of the picky eater. It's a tough life we lead. :)

Oh, I friended you, by the way. I'm going to Winchestercon too!

Oh, if I don't like something, I do not eat it. I am always removing this and that from my food.

But you're going to a con! You won't be a lurker then.

Uh oh! I love tomatoes. And spinach, well, fresh spinach either raw or cooked. Frozen spinach just isn't as good, and canned spinach is ick.

What about those of us who just don't like being around kids?

[identity profile] gweneiriol.livejournal.com 2006-05-27 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I shall be a lurker no more once the con happens. *dances

*makes note to give all spinach and tomatoes to ciaan at the con* :D

And, people who don't like to be around kids are completely ok (hell, there are days *I* don't like to be around kids! *g*). It's those people who actually "don't" like kids that I dislike. The kid-haters, you know? I can't understand how someone can hate a child.

Oh, and I'm going through an anti-first-person phase right now. I don't know why, but I just can't muster up the energy to read that, even though there are some things I love that are 1st person.

I think the reason, I wrote it down was because I'm currently reading a series of books by an author who writes in 1st person and, I'm actually enjoying it, which made me realize how much I truly dislike it, overall. If that makes sense.

That does make sense. I was telling my sister recently how I was unable to read 1st person just now, and then we spent a while discussing a really well-done 1st person series. I think the thing is that to work well, it needs a really clear character voice. And I've been reading a bunch of fanfic, and most people can't pull off that much constant character voice to do good 1st person fanfic. But even the original stuff I've looked at lately in 1st person, I'm just like, "Do I have to listen to this one character telling me everything? Whyyyy?" But it's something I've only recently noticed, so it's probably just a temporary mood.
