I'm a little behind on my TV viewing this week because I went to see Ocean's 13 last night for my birthday. It was a ton of fun, btw--I don't have anything much to say about the film other than I think it was actually the best of the three in terms of sheer enjoyment value.
But it meant I didn't get to watch Foyle's War and the 4400 until tonight.
I tend to think of this show as my pure historical pleasure, and they are of course being true to the period details, but between ugly Americans last week and the beginnings of biological warfare this week, I can see this season is very topical. But you CAN'T give Sam anthrax--that's just not fair! Sam is definitely my favorite character, you're not allowed to give her deadly diseases, even if you cure her. And dammit, I want her to date Foyle's son again (and not that stupid American) so she could be his real daughter, because their relationship is the highlight of the show to me.
This season is really starting to look interesting. I never saw season one--I started watching mid-second season--but I'm interested in seeing people get promycin-assisted powers and watching what that does to them and to society. And wow, I'm totally enjoying the slashy vibe between Shawn and Kyle, as well as the political tension between them. And Kyle's power is extremely amusing to me, that he would have visions he himself rejects. Also, I've never really seen much in Kyle before, but damn he is looking hot this season. And I'm really enjoying the scruffy thing with Shawn, too.
I also really liked the A plot. Thank god they didn't kill the autistic kid's mom, though--that would have really hurt, especially since his dad got put in jail.
Ok, I've never been into this show for slashy reasons--Kyle just seems too young to me, like a real kid (maybe it's his outsiderness/innocence vibe?), so I've always watched this show mainly for the mystery and because I like the family a lot. But I have to say, the Kyle/Declan vibe is clearly moving from subtext to text at this point. I half expected his breakup speech to Lori to start with "I'm sorry, but I'm in love with your brother."
And wow, I have to say, I didn't actually see the Kyle-as-superhero thing coming. (What can I say? It's summer. I don't have any deep thoughts when watching TV in the summer, or think about foreshadowing, apparently). This is going to be fun. And I was concerned they were just going to have XX kidnap Kyle; I'm glad to see they're going a little more subtle there, which will let the secretkeeping drama play itself out a little more in the Trager family.

I've never seen any of the Ocean's Movies. I bought 12 the other day at Target. They had it out on their $7.50 table, but I'm guessing I should watch 11 first. I'm not sure why I've never seen them, considering the movies have all those famed actors in it. The only reason I can think of is that I'm not that fond of Las Vegas. Weird!
I'm definitely thinking that I should give them a go.
I've never been a big watcher of TV, that's why I consider my obsession with Smallville to be something else. Its the only show that I've ever been this addicted to. :)
But I've never even heard of those other two programs that you've mentioned, they do sound very interesting.
