Smallville "Quest"
First, I must apologize--I still owe comment replies from last week's review, and I've basically been absent from LJ. Work has been crazy, and will likely be so for the next couple weeks, so any comment that would require more than 30 seconds of brainpower from me is probably not going to happen.
And now, very brief comments on this week's episode:
Continuity porn FTW! I would estimate the continuity level of this episode as eleventy billion. I cannot decide if I like the comment about Lex playing with Warrior Angel figurines more than the fact that Lionel actually had a logical reason for his vanity project of the Luthor manse or not--but wow. Stone by stone, as referenced in the very first episode. Not to mention that we get Naman and Segeeth and Kryptonian symbols and Edward Teague. Heck, even all the overt religious metaphors for Clark are continuous with the fact that he was crucified in the Pilot.
Torture porn FTW! Usually we only get Lex OR Clark stripped and tortured in a single episode; this episode gave us both. Lots of barechestedness.
Badass Lex FTW! I really loved Lex and his quest for the McGuffin in this episode, though it also depressed the hell out of me. I knew MR wasn't coming back as a regular next season, but I was still until recently hoping they could get him back at least for a few guest spots. This episode reminded me how much I love Lex, and made me wonder if I'm really going to be able to keep watching next season when he's gone. :-(
