memeage and a question

Many, many, many tedious tasks to complete this afternoon before I can go home. I am deeply in need of periodic distraction.

So first, a meme: Open paint. Close your eyes. Draw a cat.

draw-a-cat meme

Also, what movie(s) and/or TV show(s) should I upload to my brand-new ipod to watch on my plane trip Sunday? (It can't be too many--I think I might have 3 GB of space left? I have no ideas what that translates to in terms of vid files).

Hmmm TV Shows I think you could get into include True Blood (12 eps in the first season) Dexter and have you got Firefly on there? *LOVES her Ipod*

Oh, I should probably mention that due to specific constraints (dial-up at home and monitoring at work) I can only download things legally--i.e. available on websites or purchasable on iTunes. So True Blood is out, and Dexter creeps me out. Firefly is a great idea, though--I never have watched the last few episodes.

TV shows you haven't seen you mean? What kinds of shows do you like/would you like to watch on the plane?

I'll put in a plug for The Office no matter what though cause it's funny and wonderful and lovable.

I feel like this meme needs to be accompanied by a discussion with a generic grandmother:

"You mean I'm supposed to draw a cat, on the computer, with my eyes closed?"

"Yes, Grandma."

"But why?"

"Because it's a meme, Grandma. That's what you do."

I have enjoyed, lately, Freaks and Geeks and How I Met Your Mother. Also, Wonderfalls.

I'd say that's definitely a VERY good attempt, I can actually recognize a cat in there. Mine just came out like forks and mashed potatoes. :p

As for the shows recs, I'm not sure what are the stuff available on iTunes but I'd definitely second the rec for Wonderfalls.

30 Rock! If you're not already watching and I'm not sure if you are or not? Or Friday Night Lights.

I'm actually thinking longer eps, not sitcoms, since 22 minutes is not enough distraction. But thanks for the suggestion!

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2008-12-20 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee!!! I mostly just wanted to see what it looked like. I only posted it because I thought it looked kind of like how a cubist might would draw a cat.

Thanks for the suggestion! And I'm vain--I wouldn't have posted my attempt if I hadn't thought it looked something like a cat.

Thanks for the suggestions! (Though I have tried watching FNL and I'm afraid it's actually too real for me to get into it. I need more escapism in my TV).

I'm going to third Wonderfalls - definitely a show worth watching. I've been watching through Keen Eddie again, and it's another quite good show Fox canceled before they finished their first season.

I've actually seen all of Wonderfalls, when it was actually on TV, and while I liked it at the time, I don't think it's distracting enough if I get stranded in an airport for hours. I'm actually thinking some old Bing Crosby movie--White Christmas put me in the mood for that. I'm currently torn between Holiday Inn and Bells of St. Mary, and I'm sure both won't fit on the ipod, so it'll probably come down to which one iTunes actually has and how much it costs.(Holiday Inn has more songs, but Bells of St Mary has Ingrid Bergman dying nobly, and I happen to think she is probably the most beautiful woman who ever existed, even when she's playing a nun, so I suspect that will be my choice.)

Only four episodes ever aired on TV! There are nine more. And one of my favorites is episode 12.

I've never seen either of those, so I can't advise. I plan to watch Love Actually today or tomorrow and write cards. (My Jewish family watches National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on Christmas Eve.)

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2008-12-20 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I haven't seen Holiday Inn in forever, but it's a fairly good 40s musical (and like most 40s musicals has a really contrived plot). Bells of St. Mary's isn't available on iTunes, dammit.

For some reason I am really in a musicals mood--I am currently thinking of getting either Hair or Fiddler on the Roof. Though what I really want is Golbert and Sullivan, and all they have is soundtracks, not movies. (What I would actually love is a Simpson's version of the greatest hits of Gilbert and Sullivan, since I trace my G&S love to that one ep of the Simpsons where Sideshow Bob is trying to kill Bart but Bart persuades him to do all of Pirates of Penzance first.)

Of course, the most likely thing is I remain indecisive and download nothing. That would be a very me thing to do.

Maybe you can find that episode of the Simpsons.

I don't know if you're only interested in classic musicals, but Get Over It, a modern teen movie one, is pretty good.
