Smallville: Injustice
Spoilers ahoy. [Edited to fix the title of the episode. *Headdesk*]
Random things I feel the need to say before analyzing
1. I felt very smart because I figured from the instant she appeared that Chloe wasn't really Chloe, but I suppose that was telegraphed so thoroughly that I shouldn't really congratulate myself for figuring that out early.
2. I really probably shouldn't have enjoyed watching Oliver sexually harass Tess as much as I did, but I love their verbal sparring almost as much as their physical sparring. And holy hell that woman is strong-willed if she could resist the siren pull of that amazing chest those gorgeous puppy-dog eyes. And I laughed like a maniac when his solution for almost being caught breaking into her safe was to turn up naked in her bed claiming he hid his pants.
3. Clark, seriously, HOW ARE YOU SO AMAZING??? Because you just get more and more amazing every episode, it's like you're Superman or something. *Smishes you tight*
4. Tess, you know too much about Clark's Kryptonian heritage so I suspect that you are going to die in the next episode, and if so I am going to miss you LIKE WOAH. Because I love to watch you even when you're betraying your team and cold-bloodedly murdering people, and that is the mark of a very charismatic villain. Also, you are hot like a hot thing, and I wish you had given in to Ollie if you really are going to die. Though I suppose there's an outside chance that you, like Lionel, will be someone who survives knowing Clark's secret for at least a little bit longer than average.
5. Dr. Emil, I love you like cake and I really hope they keep you around next season, because you rock.
A few more analytical comments
1. I know a lot of people object to the whole Tess-seeing-Clark-as-alien Jesus plotline, but I think (a) it becomes a lot more understandable if that Kryptonian crystal-thingy has been communicating with her (this really is shades of Lionel), and (b) I suddenly became aware of the interesting parallels they're drawing between Chloe and Tess in this whole plotline. Both of them are inappropriately invested in Clark's superhero persona; both of them (in different ways) want him to fulfill his destiny; and both of them are wrongheadedly convinced that their wrongheaded decisions are all ultimately for Clark's benefit.
2. And speaking of Tess, I was really happy to see a sort of resolution to the earlier plotline where she was training meteor mutants to be heroes. Though I feel really bad for her team, after she was so ruthless with them. She really is the master of telling beautiful lies while committing horrendous crimes, isn't she? I was especially impressed with the way she attempted to lay all the blame on Lex in her final scene with Clark, when he knew without a doubt she was lying through her teeth. She truly is a worthy successor to Lex and Lionel.
3. Of course we knew that any episode which had Clark say "I knew I could count on you" and Oliver say "That's never going to change" was going to end in a serious rift between them, but I have to say I was impressed with the way it went down; I frankly was sympathetic to both of them most of the time. The kryptonite ring, for example [*cough Batman cough*] seems like a reasonable precaution for Oliver to take, especially since as far as he knows Davis might be susceptible to it. And I really do find his arguments about killing Davis powerful.
On the other hand, I loved that Clark came up with a plan that allowed him to potentially save Davis while still containing the danger that is Doomsday, and that he was smart enough to conceal his plan from Oliver just in case. I would like to think Ollie might have gone along with it--at the beginning of the episode, anyway, he didn't seem quite as fanatical about killing Davis as Tess.
And wow, I was impressed that he finally told Clark about killing Lex. I don't know if they can come back from that or not, but I'm glad that secret is out in the open now. Even if that revelation does put them odds for longer than the season finale, I'll still probably enjoy this plotline, because I really do like conflict that is rooted in authentically different moral perspectives.

I know a lot of people object to the whole Tess-seeing-Clark-as-alien Jesus plotline,
I was amused that Clark actually said "alien Jesus" to Tess in the barn.
I just totally loved how this ep brought all sorts of plot point together into a huge powder keg. Just ready to blow next week.

One thing though:
The kryptonite ring, for example [*cough Batman cough*] seems like a reasonable precaution for Oliver to take
The difference between Ollie and Bruce is that Clark GAVE the kryptonite ring to Bruce after Clark, Bruce, and Lois stole it from Lex. And using the ring has always been Bruce's last option after he's exhausted all other possibilities for stopping Clark if he went crazy/rough/mind-whammied.
I have to watch this episode again when it's done downloading. Mostly I was squeeing over Clark and the fact that they included Parasite in Tess' team.

I'm too lazy/busy to write up my own this week, but yours is pretty much exactly how I felt. Although, mine would have rambled on and on, and not been half as articulate. So, thanks for saving me the work. :)

I know, I couldn't believe Clark actually said alien Jesus! That completely cracked me up.

Yes, that would obviously be a big difference. I guess I am just always amused when they telegraph how much they really want to have Batman on this show, and Oliver is their Batman-lite, so I overlooked the differences there.

The extent of how busy I am lately was only revealed to me last night when someone commented on how lovely the episode looked and how TW should direct full time, and I hadn't even realized he directed this episode--that's how far out of the loop I am these days.
