Spoilers for tonight's episode

Well, that ending was a twist. I was completely convinced that Lionel had set the whole blackmail scheme up to win Martha's trust, so now I'm confused. The guy wearing Lionel's body clearly set it up, but was it Lionel or Lion-El? Is it Jor-El who has been romancing Martha this whole time? Or did Lionel set it up but Jor-El intervened? Or does Lionel have memories from being possessed by Jor-El?

I'm actually leaning in the direction that Jor-El has been in the driver's seat the whole time, and *did* cause Jonathan's death and is now the one romancing Martha. Which is twisty and perverse and I kind of like it even better than Lionel doing the same thing.

I don't think I'm going to write a lot more on this episode right now, because I want to go see everyone's comments on Lex finally taking the gloves off. You *go*, Lex! Way to get your evil on! Ok, Victor was damn hot, and I disapprove of you experimenting on him (not just because he was hot, but because experimenting on innocent folks is not cool, which I feel necessary to write because I was enjoying evil!Lex probably a little *too* much), but I do love Lex *finally* being bad, and in a competent way. I loved how he responded to Clark's angry entrance (no smalltalk, no pleasantres, straight to accusations), and how well he deflected CLark's suspicions both in that scene and later in Dr. Hong's garage.

Oh, and the six million dollar man references were hilarious! "I have the technology."

I thought with Victor we *finally* got an actor with the chops to make us sympathetic to visiting superhero of the week. He's the first one I've actually been interested in this season, and even though the parallels between Victor/his girlfriend and Clark/Lana were a little annoying (break UP already! I'm ready for the Lexana!)I still thought that TW and KK were both bringing their A game to their scenes with him. Despite the fact that I'm really, really sick of the dead romance plot, I really did like KK's acting in this episode, especially in her scenes with the guy playing Victor.

i like reading meta even though i never watch the episodes when they're aired. maybe it's like building a mystery in my head (to borrow a musical phrase). the thought of lex with his evil on is oddly provocative, much as i'm devoted to him redeemed, so to say. (from episodes i've watched after the fact, KK does seem to be less vapid than she used to be, which is only a good thing.)

You don't mind being spoiled, I take it?

Yeah, KK has gotten a lot better, and they've given Lana a plotline that is actually interesting, for a change (or will be, once she and Clark *finally* break up), so I find I'm not hating Lana at all this season. (It doesn't translate into liking her in older episodes, unfortunately. I thought it might, but I was watching reruns on ABC family last night and I still cringe at most of the Lana scenes).

no, i like being spoiled. i enjoy piecing together a show backwards from fanfic and from lj posts. i still haven't read the harry potter books, but i know most of what there is to know from reading so many stories. it really is like a puzzle.

she was so amazingly insipid in the first couple of seasons, it made me want to scream. i couldn't figure out why the show's makers insisted so on her irresistibility. everyone was in love with her, and i just couldn't see it. i'm glad she got better, for the show's sake!
