Another thought about SV: Hypnotic

I was saying to someone in the comments on my previous post that I thought "Hypnotic" was one of the slashiest episodes in a while, since Lex hiring someone to break up the Clana could be read in a Clarkcentric, rather than Lanacentric way, and also Lex was the only person who seemed to almost be able to get through to Clark when he was hypnotized. I just realized it goes even further than that.

Simone is Lex, symbolically. I mean, think about it: a semi-sympathetic character who goes after Clark, wants his secrets but is willing to settle for the good sex, and is constantly being manipulated by an authority figure until she breaks away and tries to kill him. Also, someone who wanted her father's power, but found the only way she was able to get it was to kill him. She's totally the female Lex, and she's foreshadowing Lex killing Lionel (in case you haven't gotten the 50 million hints about that by now!)

Oh, I'm with you. It was slash-a-rama! So much so that it felt absurd to point it out! I like your articulation of Simone as Lex though. I found Simone herself a little 'meh'--probably just a reaction to the actress--but she totally fits the freak stereotype. It's interesting to look at which of the freaks parallel Clark and which Lex--she's definitely a Lexian, as you say.
