You should DEFINITELY watch the Good Wife--it started last year, so you can get the first season on DVD. It's not only Josh Charles and Juliana Margulies doing her best work ever (she's won 2 Golden GLobes for the role, I think), but also Christine Baranski and late in season 1 we also get Alan Cumming. And those are just the people you've heard of--there are a lot of amazing new folks, like Archie Panjabi, who plays the probably bisexual detective Kalinda Sharma, and is AWESOME.
It takes about 6 or 7 episodes for the show to get really good--at first it looks like it's just going to be a crime procedural from the novel perspective of the cheated-on political wife, but it eventually evolves into an exploration of how power politics corrupts everybody, even people who are really trying to do the right thing. It's also a lot more character-focused than most procedurals; often the cases are just there to foster character exploration. And it has some of the best, and most complicated, women characters and relationships among women characters, of any show on network TV. Maybe of any show on TV period, but I'm not getting cable these days.
