Tonight's Arrow was completely AMAZING. I've been wanting this for so long!
I AM SO EXCITED THAT THEA FINALLY KNOWS! YES! And given that she and Ollie are basically off to train on the Island, it can't be long before she joins Team Arrow. YES!!!
And I loved how amazing and supportive she was when he told her he was the Arrow. No recriminations, no resentment, but gladness and gratitude. I'm not sure if I completely buy that response, emotionally speaking (I think really she should be at least somewhat upset), but given how worried Ollie was about how she'd react, I was just so happy for her (and him). In general I was really loving Thea in this episode--her anger and suspicion towards Malcolm were long overdue and quite warranted, I thought. And even the one thing she did that looked really stupid--going off with the stoner musician undercover Ras al-Ghul operative--wasn't as dumb as it looked, because she figured out he was dangerous on her own. I'm so very, very happy with this development.
I was also really happy with Laurel's development in this episode. She got to grapple with the ghost of Sarah (rather literally), and with a little help from a great talk with Felicity (way to be a supportive friend, Felicity!) realized she can be the Canary without actually having to be Sarah. And she finally told her dad. (I like that he had already figured out she was being the Canary, though it was heartbreaking to see his reaction to the news of Sarah's death). It was long overdue revelation day all over the place on this show, and I thought both of them were really well done.
Roy was also great in this episode, especially the way he stood up for Thea's right to make her own decisions, and his confrontation with Oliver. And Felicity's speech to Oliver was also excellent--he has great intentions, always (though often makes boneheaded decisions), but he didn't realize how his "death" had fundamentally changed the team. Between this, and the fact that they're going to be operating independently again while he and Thea are on the island, I really anticipate awesome changes to the whole team dynamic coming up in future episodes. I AM SO EXCITED. Especially since the island means the return of Slade, who really is my favorite villain on this show.
I also really loved this week's Agent Carter.
First of all, if that Dottie/Peggy kiss doesn't produce REAMS of slash, fandom will have failed me in a big way. It's not so much that I ship it (I'd much prefer Peggy/Angie), but damn. In dude slash fandom, a kiss on the cheek from a Russian bad guy (Krycek) to a federal agent (Mulder) sparked a million fics,so a kiss on the lips (and a perfect enemyslash setup between an SSR agent and a Black Widow) should do the same, yes?
Second, I love the way this show keeps upping the stakes. Just when Peggy was gaining some actual credibility among the SSR men, Sousa seems to find compelling evidence that she's a spy. And while I completely loved how completely she took down all the agents sent after her, it wasn't helping her eventual case, was it? I totally didn't expect her to be captured at the end; I thought she'd escape and be able to prove her innocence while on the run. I'm kind of dreading the interrogation to come next week.
The Black Widow storyline is just becoming more compelling. For some reason it never occurred to me that Dottie could have been the one who got to Howard via his biggest weakness, but it was great that Peggy figured that out, and tracked down Ida/Dottie. And watching poor Jarvis take the abuse from all the women Howard dumped was hilarious. (Please tell me someone is now writing the fic where an elderly Jarvis meets a newly-hired Pepper and gives her advice on dealing with jilted Stark suitors!)
Meanwhile, my suspicions about the creepy psychiatrist were proven correct and then some. He's really scary! I guess I'm happy it was a random SSR redshirt rather than Dooley, who I'm actually starting to like, that he made walk in front of truck, but DAMN. The only thing I like about him is that he's smart enough to see the real threat to him in the SSR is Peggy.
My favorite part of the episode was definitely Angie rescuing Peggy and getting to display her amazing acting skills. I really love their friendship. I don't know that I'm ever going to stop shipping Peggy/Steve (give me ALL the early rescue and/or time travel stories, please), but I definitely like Peggy/Angie a lot more than Peggy/any of the men on the show, even Sousa, who's the only likeable one.
I am going to be SO seriously sad when this show is over, especially if the poor-ish ratings means they don't make any more. I love Peggy SO much.
