And in tonight's TV
Only a brief comment on the Flash:
I guess I'm very relieved that they just sent Patty away rather than fridging her (which is what I was expecting/fearing), because tonight's episode reminded me how much I love her, and I was going to be extremely pissed if they killed her off.
But I was much more excited by the fact that Agent Carter is back, and I loved both episodes to death.
I guess I'm going to go chronologically (sort of):
1. OMG, that opening with Dottie! Dressed as Peggy! If I wasn't shipping them before, I am now (I have a real weakness for antagonist ships anyway). And on a shallow note, I really love Dottie with dark hair, insisting only Peggy can really interrogate her.
2. I was actually hoping that Jack Thompson wouldn't be back this season, but I'm fine with him spending most of the season playing power politics back on the East Coast, honestly.
3. That bit with Jarvis and the flamingo was glorious. And we finally got to meet Anna, and she was totally perfect! I especially loved her complete aplomb when Peggy and Jarvis were judoing each other, and the fact that she's coming up with easy-to-conceal holsters for Peggy.
4. Ok, Souza did absolutely nothing for me last season, but damn he looks hot in California colors. When he was flirting with the receptionist as a distraction, I realized I could actually for the first time see him with Peggy, and then I spent the episode going back and forth on whether I want him romancing Peggy or not. I do like his nurse, though, and I would be completely happy with Peggy dating Dr. Wilkes. (I refuse to believe he's dead, btw, until we see a body. I hope he's not one of the first mutants the SSR has to contain, though--I do expect if he shows up again he will have some sort of superpowers, and possibly be the one who can physically defeat Whitney Frost.
5. I had been slightly spoiled that Whitney Frost was going to be a Hedy Lamarr-type character, and I do think she makes a compelling antagonist; that little bit with her jerkass director definitely demonstrates why she'd rather succeed in science. Does anyone else think she's totally playing her husband?
6. So, is the secret society supposed to be Hydra or something else? Hydra would be less self-protective, I think, but it's hard to tell at this point.
7. Really loving the LA Noir stuff and general Hollywood details (corrupt cops, corrupt politicians, the fact that the SSR cover is now a talent agency, the fact that Rose is back and clearly bored with having to watch talent auditions; all the fabulous outfits Peggy gets to wear; the fact that Stark is starting his own studio probably as a way to make time with starlets, etc. Oh, and I am not bored yet with Jarvis' longsuffering descriptions of all his tech for better philandering--hee!).
8. Also loving all the fun comic-y spy bits, like all the secret doorways you get to through cabinets or busts, or Howard's different gadgets, or the secret symbolic keys.
9. Thinking about it, I really have a hard time believing Wilkes is dead not only because we didn't see a body but also because Peggy just got over one dead boyfriend; it seems unlikely thematically that the show would go that route again. And they spent a fair bit of time giving him backstory and making him interesting for a character they were going to kill of that early, so I'm going to go with the "he's going to return with superpowers" prediction.
10. We're starting to get some backstory on characters, like Jarvis and Anna's whirlwind relationship, and the fact that Peggy grew up in Hempstead, was a huge prankster in school and has a brother. Yay! I hope we get more of this.
