Lionel recs: slash recs

Here's another set of Lionel recs, this time slash. (I'm doing Luthorcest recs separately, so this is all the slash recs that aren't Lionel/Lex).

Lionel/Clark stories

Alax's Coercion and its sequel Exaction. Lionel coerces Clark into having sex with him. Clark must agree, to save Lex from being outed as gay and himself being outed as an alien, even though he knows it will destroy his relationship with Lex. And what's worse is that he doesn't entirely hate it.

Alexa Jones, Something he needs. Non-con. Lionel has found the cure for his cancer--and it's not Clark's blood that he needs.

Cleo, Without a touch. Clark needs money, and Lionel has hired him to provide sexual services. This one has an interesting twist at the end.

Dana, Into the Lion's Den. Clark will do anything to get Lionel to stop Lex's marriage to Helen.

Kel, Aftermath. Non-con. Lionel agrees to make Clark's problems with the police go away, for a price.

Kel, Secret Desires. RedK!Clark and Lionel.

Lenore's Seduction. Clark wants Lex, but doesn't think he can have him. And Lionel is very persistent. The fun of this story is seeing how seamlessly Lionel seduces Clark without Clark really understanding what's happening--which is a remarkable bit of storytelling, considering the story is written from Clark's point of view. (There's also a Clex sequel to this, where Lex finds out: The Indestructible Truth.)

Leda, Limitations of Control. Non-con. Lionel thinks he can control Clark by threatening to expose his secret to Lex, and he is successful in sexually manipulating him. But invulnerable aliens have their breaking point.

Nuala, Switch. RedK Clark comes looking for Lex, but decides to make do with Lionel instead. The twist at the end of this makes me laugh out loud every time.

Pearl-O and Jack, As Good as Belongs to Me RedK Clark has fun taunting Lionel. Having a worldly, world-famous billionaire industrialist underneath him is just that much more exhilarating. God. He'd never appreciated how much power he has until yesterday... He kisses gently at the tiny dip in Lionel's throat, draws his tongue around in a circle. Lionel's breath is coming harsher now; Clark can feel him responding.

Velvetglove, The Prize (Clark/Lucas, Clark/Lionel, Clark/Lex, Clark/other). Lucas wants Clark., and Lionel is certainly willing to take advantage of an opportunity. A fortutitously placed RedK sculpture leads to lots of hot sex, but the impact on Clark's relationship with Lex is not a happy one.

Lionel/Jonathan stories
Keelywolfe, The Dorothy Option. A gorgeous exploration of a possible Jonathan/Lionel rela tionship, pre-Martha. Amazingly layered for such a short piece.

Mireille, Deja Vu: Jonathan". There's a reason why Jonathan is suspicious of the Luthors.

Nifra Idril, No Quarter. Lionel seduces Jonathan, after the meteor shower. Afterwards, Jonathan can never forget.

Zahra, Little Fish Long before he meets Martha, Jonathan has a college relationship with Lionel. Lionel is someone big and important and powerful, but sometimes Lionel makes him feel like a big fish in his pond and that's enough for him .

Lionel/Morgan Edge stories
Lillian, Edge. Lionel reacts to Morgan's death.

Nifra Idril, Forge. One of *the* best Lionel character pieces, as far as I'm concerned, and a great look at Lionel and Morgan's relationship, when they were young.
"But do you know what that means?" Lionel asks him, voice rising, hands squeezing his shoulders. Morgan sees the fire blaze red, sees his way out, and nods. "We're getting out," he says, reverently. "We're getting out of this goddamned place." "Yes, yes, we're getting out," Lionel says, impatient, "but that's not it. Morgan...we pulled this off. We can...hell, we can do anything."

Sage, Forever (Morgan/Lionel, Lillian/Lionel). I already recced this under "Luthor family stories," but it also belongs here, because it's one of the most interesting Lionel/Morgan Edge pieces ever written. They were lovers when they were younger, and Morgan doesn't want to let Lionel go.

Lionel/Whitney stories

B'Lane, "Daddy Longlegs," .

I recced this before for smutrecs fest, but really it is one of the best Lionel series, both for characterization and for hot sex, so I must recommend it again. An AU in which Whitney didn't die, but went on to be a pro football star for the Metropolis Sharks. Lionel is drawn to him, starts an affair, and against his own will finds himself becoming emotional involved.

Oh, yes. And I'm only doing the good ones. I was initially surprised, too, but for seasons 1-3, especially, Lionel was the primary antagonist in *most* SV stories that had an antagonist. I may even write an essay on trends in his characterization and how that affected story production. The largest number of Lionel stories seem to be (a) late season 1/early season 2 speculation about the Luthor backstory, which is not surprising since we didn't knowa lot, then, and there was lots of room for original ideas and (b) stories written during the period Lionel was blind and hanging around the mansion.

What there don't seem to be, though, are any stories dealing with Lionel's season 4 change of heart, which is too bad, because I'd like to see fanon at least try to paper over some of the worst gaps in canon for s4 Lionel. In fact, there aren't even a lot of "Lionel in prison" stories that I've found, and you would think that Lionel haters would use that scenario as a pretext to torture him, or Lionel lovers use it to explore how he negotiated and survived the experience--but other than Lenore's The Survival Game (http://scribblinlenore.popullus.net/survival_game.html) I can't even think of another good Lionel-in-prison story.

But SV story production has been down dramatically since mid-season 4, and I guess the people currently writing in the fandom just aren't into Lionel.

I think it's partly because in seasons 2 and 3, Lionel was at the height of his powers, and the interest in Luther family dynamics was high. Season 4 lost what made Lionel a great character. And season 5 is occasionally recapturing that, but mostly I'm confused. Is he Jor-El or Lionel? Season 4 let us down by not giving any firm motives for Lionel's behaviour, but making it entirely ambiguous and up to the viewer to decide if he was faking or not.

With seasons 2 or 3, I was a lot surer of Lionel's motives and his place in Lex's life. Most of the time I don't even know what Lex's feelings for his father are any more. Although it is surprising there haven't been any fics on Lionel trying to become part of the Kent family. Some interesting fic could come out of that.

And thanks for the recs!

Oh, I agree with you about Lionel's s4 characterization--I'm just surprised no one has come up with a theory to explain it. I think his ambiguity could be an interesting thing to explore: did he really reform, or was it all always an act?

And you're welcome!
