Wow, Veronica Mars really is still the best show on television.

In this episode, we saw 3 completely separate ways good investigative intentions led to bad outcomes: Beaver's intention to help his dad see Kendall is deceiving himleading to his dad's downfall; Veronica's intention to expose Mr. Casablancas leading to danger for Logan and make that really sweet business teacher lose his early retirement; and (it is suggested) Veronica's invetigation into Lily's death led to everyone on the bus dying. I wonder if that's going to be an ongoing theme of this season? I mean, yes, a lot of the suffering was not Veronica or Beaver's fault, it was Mr. Casablancas/ Aaron Echolls'--but nevertheless the quest for justice is causing a lot of collateral damage. I like the fact that they are showing the downside to Veronica's investigations. Last year we saw the lengths Veronica would go to to seek the truth; it looks like this season we're going to see more of the consequences of that kind of crusade.

There were so many other things I loved about this episode, it's hard to remember them all. Let me start with the little touches: I completely loved Veronica's Mr. Burns imitation at the FBL meeting, as well as her comment about Kendall's sunshine colonic. I continue to love, love, love Kendall, in a "love to hate" kind of way--Charisma Carpenter really is at her best when being bitchy. I wonder what's going to happen to her now that her husband has bailed?

I'm reserving judgment about the new girl, whose name I have forgotten, but I'm pretty sure she's not stepping out on Wallace--that has to be misdirection. I kind of love the fact that Veronica hates her--it's going to complicate her relationship with Wallace in interesting ways. I wonder what's going on with Wallace's mom. though--does she have a shady hidden past? I like the way they subtly introduced her discomfort about Chicago and made us think that maybe Keith was going to propose or something, and then introduce this new mystery. I can see we're never going to get uncomplicated love relationships on this show.

And speaking of love relationships--I haven't seen a lot of slash potential in this show up til now, but DAMN that Logan/Duncan fight wasn't just subtext, it was actual text: Logan feeling abandoned, Duncan feeling betrayed. And I loved that Duncan finally lost his shit--in response to something Logan said. Sure, Veronica is the apparent cause for the fight (and I do honestly think they are both in love with her), but in this scene at least it's clear that the real argument is about Logan's feeling that he lost Duncan. I suspect there's Logan/Duncan fic on my friendslist as we speak, and I can't wait to read it. I've been waiting for this conversation for a long time.

And what are we to make of Logan's inspirational message of the week? Very interesting.

I love this show so much!!!
