I agree with you that as a journalist, Chloe should be more objective. On the other hand, since they *knew* they were doing this particular plot-arc for Chloe, my guess is that the writers have been actually deliberately setting Chloe up to be weirded out by meteor affected people precisely because it ups the dramatic possibilities when she finds out she is one. I don't imagine we've seen the last of her freaking out about the possible futures she sees for herself.

Do we really know for sure that Ryan was meteor affected, by the way? He wasn't ever in Smallville before that episode; I thought his powers were caused by his brain tumor.

We've definitely seen a lot of people with meteor powers who had good intentions, as [livejournal.com profile] serenography listed above--but I think Chloe's theory is that in time, meteor infection drives everyone insane or else causes some sort of cancer or other physical ailment that kills them. (Or, ok, that's probably a fanfic theory I'm projecting on Chloe, but it seems to make sense). So even though Kyle acted like a good guy when we last saw him, he too could be a ticking time bomb--the same with all the other meteor powered folks who are currently living normal lives.
