On Chloe's leaps of logic: I agree that it would be great if we actually saw her acting like a real journalist rather than Almiles' concept of a journalist--but since a lot of times her logical leaps are connected to her role as exposition fairy or are deliberately contrived to serve the plot, I don't generally hold them against her. (I wish we had writers who could do exposition and plot without giving us whiplash from the changing perspectives of certain characters, but that's probably too much to hope for in SV.)
I also think it's unlikely, in the SV-verse, for Chloe to find a scientist who is not corrupted/corruptible by the Luthors, just based on the principle of parsimony. The writers aren't going to introduce a scientist just so Chloe's theories can look better researched, unless they have a long-term plot arc for the scientist or they need someone to be killed off for the plot.
Still, I agree overall it would be a *great* plot arc if Chloe actually started investigating the meteor mutants in a realistic way, now that she's one of them. I'd actually be interested in knowing things like what percentage of them go crazy, and what percentage are just ordinary citizens leading normal lives.
