That's precisely why I shrugged it off for so long (Al Miles are dumb, lazy, etc) but a whole half or 2/3 of a season addressed this issue...they had Alicia kick off that growth arc rather bluntly with that speechifying about irresponsible writing/"poison pen" (not to mention have outlined clear differences re: good/bad journalist/journalism stuff over the seasons). So I go back and forth between the "Almiles are dumb, lazy" thing I thought before, but then they'll come up with something that actually really shows awareness about this stuff and I wonder if, in the midst of that laziness, they actually know what they're doing but just don't do it with enough consistency or a definitive "Yes, this is what we mean" if that makes sense. Pretty much the story of the series I guess. But yeah, I'd be thrilled if they were dealing with this beyond the personal coping-with-the-revelation angle.
