recs and the state of me
I've been feeling very hermitish for the past couple weeks. I see from my calendar I have actually posted a few times, and I've been trying to make myself reply to comments and comment on people's entries, but I am finding it more challenging than normal. All I seem to want to do these days is lose myself in long Harry Potter novels. And there are so many in that fandom, it's easy. Waking up on time for work tomorrow is going to be very painful, I fear, because the past two nights in a row I've inadvertantly stayed up until 6 a.m. lost in a long story.
Meanwhile, I've been compiling a list of recs. Is anyone interested in recs for the stories that have been swallowing me whole lately? Most of them are HP classics I'm sure most people in the fandom have read already--I just read irregularly in HP so I hadn't gotten around to them yet. However, I also have a fairly lengthy list of post-Deathly Hallows stories I've enjoyed, which I will place behind a cut since most of the summaries contain spoilers for DH.
atdelphi, Familiar Places. To say too much about this would be to spoil it, but Snape lovers will appreciate this brief look at Albus Severus Potter's early days at Hogwarts.
bagheera_san's Five Moments of Doubt. Set during DH. Snape is now headmaster of Hogwarts. How do people respond to him?
copperbadge, The rules of being a godson . Teddy, growing up.
fernwithy, Pointless. Adolescent Teddy, trying to come to terms with his parents' deaths.
florahart, Last Call . After the battle, Harry has a final conversation with Snape. Painful in the right way.
furiosity, The Little Ones. What happens to the muggle-born children as they try to board the train for Hogwarts under the new regime? Chilling, with a little bit of hope to leaven it.
googlebrat, End of the Line . After the battle, Snape finds himself at a railway station. This one made me cry.
inell, Consequences . Hermione copes with the consequences of the decision she made for her parents. This one really hurts, but it's very well done.
jackiejlh, , All Those empty spaces . Petunia, during the war. One of the best Petunia stories I've ever read.
koalabear2046, Inter-house relations (Scorpius/Rose). Despite the objections of some of their family members, a Weasley can be friends with a Malfoy.
lilith_morgana, Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. A brilliant look at Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy toward the end of DH, caught in a trap and trying to escape it.
myashke, Dawning. Snarry. A post-DH fixit fic.
penknife, Summer Holidays. Hermione in the aftermath. A lot of lovely little character moments.
permasmile's Of Being. Snape and Lily, in the afterlife. Snape is SO Snape in this, it made me cry.
scoradh, Road Less Travelled Series . So far there are three stories in this, focusing on Albus Severus Potter and the friends he makes at Hogwarts, including Rambo Dursley and Scorpius Malfoy. I really adore this AU, and not just because Dudley named his (magical! yay!) son Rambo, either.
trickofthedark, Platform 9.9999999. A gorgeous combination of art and story. Dumbledore in the afterlife. For me, this really redeems a scene in DH I had issues with.
xparrot, Spook. Fred and George in the midst of battle.
Not fanfic, but a hilarious retelling of the book:http://violet-quill.livejournal.com/329450.html?style=mine#cutid1

As I have the summer off and the house to myself (for now) I'm pretty much amusing myself by staying up way too late reading fic after fic. This would be a great boon to me!

The post includes a number of kick ass DH quotes including the using the spell 'erecto' to pitch a tent! I doubt it's locked. Go check it out!
