My TV watching, as always, is somewhat hindered by my second job, which is mostly a night job. Oh well, I guess that spares me from complete TV addiction. So I'm not going to do this night-by-night; Thursday TV is the only TV I watch live anyway.

Shows that I cannot live without and will always watch every week:

Supernatural

Smallville

Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicles. (I got really addicted to this show during the summer, when they rebroadcast it in its entirety, and have to thank everyone who recced it to me, because it kicks almighty ass.)

Edited to add: And Battlestar Galactica, of course, when it returns.

Shows I will most likely be watching every week unless I get too annoyed by contrived plot twists:

Heroes

Gray's Anatomy (which makes my Thursday night WAY too packed, dammit. In fact, I am generally taping SPN and watching Gray's while writing my Smallville reviews, which sort of explains the decline in the analytical quality of the reviews last season. :P Just in case you were wondering).

Shows I will watch whenever I can but I don't know if I'm going to have time, and one can only tape so many shows before the backlog becomes overwhelming, dammit!

The Mentalist (what can I say? The ad is kind of cool, I'm intrigued)

90210 (I never watched the original show--blasphemy, I know--but I'm a wee bit curious, so I'll at least watch the premiere. And apparently the fate of the whole CW rests on this show, or something?)

Dollhouse (I'm so glad this is a mid-season replacement; hopefully by that time I'll have ditched one of the above shows and have more watching time!)

I've never watched Life, but if it's on Fridays I might actually be able to check it out. And I don't think I've heard of Leverage?

Yep, it's on Fridays but the premiere schedule is a bit confusing -- it will premiere on Sept 29 after Heroes then air another new episode on Friday (Oct. 3), the next Monday (Oct. 6) before starting its regular Friday schedule on October 10.

Also, if you're interested in watching the first season (which is just 11 episodes) its up on Hulu. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the original music which really adds a *lot* to the show. It's already good with the storyline and the characters but together with the music it's fantastic.

Um, and if you're not adverse to obtaining it through other means just tell me. *shifty eyes*

Leverage will air in TNT, its basically a cross between Ocean's 11 and UK's Hustle. It's a fun caper show about a former insurance investigator (Timothy Hutton) and together with thieves, grifters and a con woman who provide 'leverage' to people who were abused by people in power.

I'll probably watch the old eps on Hulu some time--but do you think that's necessary before the new season starts, or can I just jump right in?

They said that the premiere will act as a 'second' pilot but I think you should check out the first season since there's some plot points tackled in s1 that you probably need to see before heading for second season. If I were asked, episodes necessary for you to watch would be the pilot (it starts a little shaky as all pilots are but with glimmers of the magnificent characterizations just underneath), third episode (beginning of the solidification of the partnership), 4th episode for the plot point in the conspiracy and the funny guest star but skippable since the previouslies can handle the plot point, 5th episode necessary for plot point *and* characterization. This is also the ep where they realize what they're fantastic with: quirky imagery, music and characters and the push-pull dynamic of the partnership. Episodes 6 to 11 are all necessary for the plot and characterization.

Honestly though, it'll all just go by fast because the episodes are fast paced, although, the crime of the week might leave you a little 'Huh?' at times because Life isn't really a cop show. It's a show about two broken people recovering from their past and not letting their tragedies define them. It has dramatic moments but it doesn't take itself seriously. Oh, and if The Mentalist interests you, Life has the same quirky, complex lead in Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis).

Also, if you're an X-Files fan the partnership will remind you of Scully and Mulder.

Erm. Sorry if I went overboard there, Life's such a small fandom that I get over excited when I encounter any interest.:)
