I'm doing this only because [livejournal.com profile] mskatej tagged me, but I am refusing to tag anyone else. *Sticks tongue out at meme author: I don't take orders from anybody*

01. what are your nicknames?

I don't have any. (People who know me in RL may think the name I go by is a nickname, since it is a diminutive of my middle name, but it is actually the name my parents always intended to call me--they just didn't think it was formal enough to make my legal name. But the name I'm called is the same name my dad's favorite aunt and my mom's college roommate had, so I don't consider it a nickname.)

02. how do you style your hair?
Long, straight, and doing nothing with it other than combing it. Usually I don't even blow dry it.

03. What's new in your life right now?

My ipod. ♥ Mine literally came in the mail 15 minutes ago and is charging right now. I'd already loaded about 1/3 of my music library onto my computer in anticipation of this, so I have songs on it already, yay! I have entered the 21st century.

04. how many colors are you wearing now?
Two: red and black. A sweater that is red with black vertical stripes, black trousers, black socks and shoes.
This is pretty typical of my wardrobe.

05. are you an introvert or extrovert?
Completely an introvert

06. what was the last book you read?
Persepolis, which is a graphic novel about Marjane Satrapi growing up in Iran during the revolution.

07. do you nap a lot?
No, because I can only nap in 4 hour increments, which messes up my sleep schedule terribly.

08. if the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do?
Nothing.

09. is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Other than the fact that every time I pick up the paper the sky seems to be falling further? Um, I seem to have broken a tooth last night, so I'll say that. Dammit, I was just at the dentist last week!

10. what was the last thing you ate today?
Black bean burrito and an apple, for lunch.

11. how long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Well, if I do it properly, 80 minutes: 30 minutes to work out, 25 minutes to read LJ and the New York Times while eating oatmeal and drinking coffee, and 25 minutes to shower, dress, and gather all my shit together to get out the door. (And yes, I shower after eating--I'm weird that way).

12. What was the last thing you watched?
Fannish: Leverage, which is AWESOME and everyone should watch.
Nonfannish: Promises, an amazing documentary about Palestinian and Israeli kids.

13. what relaxes you when you are stressed out?
Reading fanfic; walking down to the river and watching it for a while; developing elaborate Marysue fantasies where I am living in a totally different universe.

14. do you like to clean?
Nope, as anyone who has ever seen my house or office will attest

15. what's the last song that got stuck in your head?
Mandolin Rain, by Bruce Hornsby

16. What was the best thing you saw today?
Well, I'm enjoying all the skewering of Blagojevich, I have to say.

17. what's better: eternal love or memorable love?
Huh? I would think eternal love would be memorable, so I don't necessarily see the contradiction here.

18. what would you do if you see $100 lying on the ground?
Look around to see who had dropped it; claim it if I couldn't find the owner.

19. best time of your life?
I had an amazing group of friends in college and again in grad school; I think hanging out with them probably was the best time of my life.

20. tell me something good
Barack Obama becomes president in 41 days!!!

Mandolin Rain is a good song. the one by him that i liked most, though, was Every Little Kiss. wonder what happened to him and the Range.

According to his official website, he's still giving concerts: http://www.brucehornsby.com/

Mandolin Rain is actually the very first Bruce Hornsby song I ever heard (it was used as music in a play I was the sound tech for back in college), but my favorite of his songs is definitely "The Way it Is."
