Things I LOVED with a burning passion
1.CLARK. Pretty much everything about him in this episode, but especially:
a. Clark defining saving people as "helping them find their way back to the right side." And then demonstrating that in action. Oh, Clark. Just when I think I cannot love you more.
b. Clark going undercover, because OH YES. This is the Clark that becomes the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter! And I know people are missing Lois and I agree it sucks ED isn't in more eps, but I do love that it means Clark gets to do some growing in his investigative skills on his own, not just as her sidekick.
c. Clark getting to wear new outfits. Because as lovely as he is in red and blue, and even in the suit, I liked that light blue shirt he had on at the dinner at Danny's house, and I LOVED the grey T-shirt over the long-sleeved white shirt. Also, he looks pretty damn good in uniform. HUMINA.
2. Lana and Tess confrontations. Damn. I really think I could watch a whole season of them sparring, both verbally and physically. (PLEASE TELL ME SOMEONE IS WRITING THE SLASH RIGHT NOW? PRETTY PLEASE?) I mean, Lois v. Tess is fun, don't get me wrong, but the Lex factor makes Lana v. Tess so much more compelling to me, and it's really really going to make me miss KK more when she's gone.
3. TESS. That whole speech to Lex at the end: "I've done everything you've ever asked--you've seen that with your own eyes and apparently with mine. Not anymore. I hope you watch with rapt attention as your life disappears before your eyes. Goodbye Lex--I loved you, you son of a bitch" And then proposing a merger with Ollie. Damn. You do *not* want to cross this woman.
4. Ollie: you just make me happy every time you appear in an episode. But especially when you (a) talk Clark out of his guilt-spiral about J'onn; (b) take Clark's advice and trust that Danny can be a better person; (c) interact with Tess in any way, shape, or form. *Happy sigh*
5. Chloe: I love that you have Lois's back.
6. J'onn J'onzz: I loved that speech at the end, not in the least because JUSTICE LEAGUE HERE WE COME. (Ok, they probably wrote this ep before Tom signed for s9, if he has actually done so, but that's ok. I still want to see the JL spinoff afterwards).
Things I loved slightly less than the above, but still a lot
1. How refreshing to see an actual family in Metropolis in their natural setting! I especially loved it because it gives a much fuller picture of who Clark is saving when he saves Danny--not just him but his whole family.
2. "Cops got rules, capes don't." My first reaction was, hey, GA doesn't have a cape and they don't even know what red-blue blue WEARS--but then we got reminded about Warrior Angel, so I realized the metaphorical capes made a lot more sense, and I really like that line.
3. I wasn't at all bothered by the Clana kiss, since it's obviously not going anywhere--KK has what, 2 more episodes in the series?--and since there is not, yet, anything spoken between Lois and Clark, he's not cheating or anything. And hell, I wouldn't mind watching those two very very pretty people have farewell sex, for that matter, but I'll take a kiss.
