It's finally finished, so I can recommend a story that I have been following for a while now, and one that has become my favorite Dean/Castiel story ever: ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
pandarus's The Consequences of Falling . Castiel receives an order from on high that he cannot bear to carry out, and as a consequence he finds himself condemned to life as a mortal. Which, granted, is the premise of about half the Castiel fic out there, but this story has such a fantastic characterization of Castiel--especially his wonder at all things human as he first experiences our way of life--that for me it stands out from all the rest. Especially when he starts to understand the human perspective on love; this Castiel brings such joy and innocence to the whole experience it's really a delight to read, even with the shadow of tragedy that hangs over the whole story.
