Smallville: Stiletto
God, I love this show.
Obligatory Shallowness
Holy CRAP Lois was hot in this episode. I mean, yeah, obviously when she was getting geared up to be Stiletto (GUH), but I also really liked the blue blouse she was wearing in the DP.
Things I loved with a fiery passion:
Lois' dialogue: OMG, so very very many great lines. My favorite was probably "Next time I call myself Nike." Though that whole scene in the DP where she was clearly trying to thank Clark for saving her life but couldn't quite get there is a close second.
Clark's dialogue, especially "I didn't know there was room for introspection under that costume." ROFL!!! Seriously, EVERY SINGLE SCENE in season 9 could be a Clark/Lois banter scene, and I would not complain. Can we petition the CW for that?
Lois and Clark both being really, really smart: Even when they weren't being tremendously witty, it was a joy to watch Lois and Clark lie and deflect to each other so well in their quest to keep secrets. I thought Clark's explanation that it's crucial to get Chloe's laptop back to protect Isis Foundation info was marvellous--it made it a serious issue for Lois without giving away anything about Watchtower; and Lois' riposte that Clark should talk to the man who got arrested was excellent deflection. Smart is sexy, baby.
Also, I just loved that scene where they are both waiting for something to come across the police scanner and both denying that's what they're doing. HEE.
Lois and the "Red-Blue Blur" bonding : Between Clark telling Lois she's a kickass reporter whether or not she lands any Superhero interviews, and Lois telling Blurman that if he ever needs someone to talk to, she's available, my heart went all melty. Lois and Clark may become my favorite canon OTP ever, for scenes like this.
Every other Lois-Clark interaction in this whole episode What, this surprises you? It was wonderful that Clark would recognize Lois even with a bag over her head. (*Snicker*) And I love that despite the fact that Clark was actually quite restrained in reproaching her for the Stiletto deception, Lois clearly took it to heart ("Clark's diatribe is still ringing in my ears"). And I love how damn heroic she was when he was in danger, and how scared she was when he got shot (and how heroic *he* was in jumping in front of that bullet for her when he could have been seriously injured)--yeah, basically I just loved every minute they were together.
Blur-etto fansite. Hilarious!!! (Ok, the logical part of me has timeline issues with this, especially if Lois actually killed her original story--did this all happen in one night? So how was there a website? But I'm willing to handwave all of that for the cuteness factor. Especially because I would definitely post on those boards!)
Jimmy also being heroic: While I haven't been thrilled with his storyline (more below), I do like the fact that he stepped up to help Lois when she was in danger.
Cousinly bonding , because I love how much they both support each other. And that scene where Lois confesses what she did, and Chloe comes really *close* to confessing, was really powerful.
Things that made me go WOW.
Chloe's whole storyline. Not because I approve of the choices she's making--I very much disapprove, as we're undoubtedly supposed to--I'm just really kind of impressed that they're actually going there with her. Because when I saw her carrying the trash bags, I thought "holy crap, she is NOT throwing away a body in the dumpster--they'd never go so far with the character, surely"--and they DID, Lady MacBeth hands and all. Damn. Are they going to kill her off? (Don't spoil me! Just speculation allowed). Because I'm really not sure how they can bring her back from this.
And yet I think this development is organic to her character--her long history as a secret keeper, her strong need to be hero support (or save the world herself), her own feelings for Davis, all conspiring to pull her down into this downward spiral, one where she knows that she's gotten in over her head and is making the wrong decisions and clearly wants to tell someone and feels she can't. God, her face when she saw the blood on her hands! So even though I'm a little terrified of what this means for her in the long run, I'm fascinated by this storyline.
And it's even making the Jimmy/drug-addiction storyline more compelling for me, because even though I have real issues with the addicted-to-painkillers-to-produce-sweeps-angst cliche, the fact that Jimmy and Chloe are on parallel downward spirals paradoxically makes Jimmy's fall more interesting for me; if they don't end up killing Chloe off or something equally horrifying, maybe they're setting things up something interesting in their parallel descents.

Heh, I know. I loved this scene too. I had some issues with the ep, but for the most part, I can't complain about the Clark/Lois scenes. And the Lois/RBB one was a lovely homage to the movies.

Probably the most terrifying thing about this whole thing is just wondering how it's going to end. And AM really did a great job with that scene. Very powerful.
