Harper's Island
Spoilers ahoy
I don't have any really deep thoughts about tonight's episode. They're doing a beautiful job of ramping up the tension, and isolating the core characters. The conflict about whether or not to stay for Madison seemed quite realistic, to me, as did everyone getting all upset about Chloe making a list of the probable dead.
I'm really hoping Cal *isn't* the killer, since he seems to me so far to be the most selfless one of the bunch, stepping up not once but twice to try to help Madison, and persuading others by his example.
I was very happy that the Sheriff didn't actually die in this episode, though I suspect he is not long for the world. I had a fun dinner last week with
rsadelle, and we speculated about who would live and who would die, and pretty much concluded that they will continue to kill off the unpopular characters first (like J.D. and scarface this week) but that eventually some of the core cast is going to have to be killed; my guess is definitely the sheriff and probably Shea, unless Henry is the killer, since I don't *think* they will leave Madison a complete orphan if Henry and Trish can't adopt her. I could be wrong, though. I'm pretty sure that at the end Abby, Henry and Madison will still be alive, and most likely Trish, though that depends on the identity of the killer; possibly Jimmy, too, if he doesn't turn out to be the killer. Everybody else is probably going to die, though I'm kind of holding out hope for Cal and Chloe. But I suspect they will only survive to the end if they turn out to be the killers.
(If they continue with the pattern of killing one unlikeable character and one background character next week, it's clearly going to be the blond best man who was encouraging everyone to leave, next week, and possibly also the hotel manager as a background character, since they seem to be running out of background characters! Though possibly also the guy who was locked up with JD).
Meanwhile, Henry still seems very much in the running for likeliest suspect for the killer. He is the one who found Shea's husband's body, for example, and there he was looming ominously when J.D. died. Though if it is Henry, I suspect there is some connection to Wakefield that hasn't been revealed yet.
rsadelle, I think your theory that Wakefield is Abby's dad must be correct; I can't think of another reason why the sheriff would have specified that Wakefield had been in prison 17 years--exactly Abby's age--when the original killing spree took place, otherwise. But if Henry is doing the killings now, and they're "all about Abby," I want to know what the connection is. Maybe he has an accomplice? Or maybe Henry is just a red herring?

Or, maybe Wakefield killed Henry's parents, and instead of blaming Wakefield he secretly blames the sheriff? Though that doesn't explain why he's killed off so many members of Trish's family too.

Wakefield being Abby's dad isn't something I thought of, but it's a valid theory. And as much as I've been suspecting Henry, having him just show up at the end of the episode with blood on his hands ... it all seems a bit too early and too easy. I'm finally starting to think he may be a red herring.
But if Henry's the red herring, I have no idea who the actual killer is. Each and every one of these people seem genuine, although my suspicions are shifting to Jimmy now.

Jimmy is definitely a good suspect, though.
