Harper's Island
Well, if this were the second-to-last episode, I would possibly be convinced (maybe) that Wakefield was doing it all alone--but I'm sure they wouldn't have shown him this early in the game were he the only killer. It seems clear to me that he's working with someone, and the real question is who. My guess is that it's whoever his real kid is, and that means, I would guess, Henry or Jimmy or Shea or Trish. I suppose it could theoretically also be Cal or Chloe or Sully or Danny, but I think the fact that Cal got shot rules him out (it's too serious of a wound for it just to be a diversion), and I suspect Sully and Danny are just around to die in the next couple of episodes. Chloe doesn't seem to be enough of a central character for it to be her. And if it's Abby, she is one sadistically cruel killer, to set up her dad to die self-sacrificially right in front of her. And she's also one hell of an actress.
I think at the moment Jimmy is my top suspect just because of his miraculous survival, though I'm also liking Shea as a dark-horse candidate, because (a)Madison was completely unharmed, yet her kidnapping gave Shea a lot of excuses to be away from people as she was freaking out and (b) if she turns out to be Wakefield's secret kid, it could be her "dad" found out (or was on the verge of finding out) and might have disinherited her. (B also works for Trish). I could totally see Trish or Shea conspiring with Wakefield--you take out the threats to my inheritance and you can also get vengeance on the sheriff and other folks at the same time.
Anyway, that was a fascinating episode. I'm glad to see Sully stepping up and doing the right thing, not only by volunteering to go with Cal but then in attempting to save his life; I now almost like him (though I'm trying not to let myself to get too attached, since my guess is that he's next on the death list). Meanwhile, Cal has pretty much rocketed up to be my favorite person in the whole show, so if he really dies I'm going to be heartbroken. Watching the sheriff die was also hard (goodbye, Jim Beaver! Terrific performance as always, especially in that final scene!) but I pretty much knew it was coming, so I was prepared.
Watching Abby coming to terms with what seemed to be proof that her dad was the killer was just *heartbreaking*. And God, I want a best friend like Henry, someone who'll risk staying behind on an island with a crazy murderer on the loose just to help me find my dad who may well *be* the crazy murderer. (Of course, if he's the killer I'll have to retract that statement.)
I also liked that, as a couple people predicted, Madison was lying about the sheriff--but she had a *really* good reason to be doing so. That poor kid is going to be *so* fucked up if she survives this.
And in conclusion, CALLUM KEITH RENNIE! YAY! I just wish he would get some non-psycho roles again someday.

That last scene of Jim Beaver's was amazing. I have to say that I kind of want Jimmy to be the killer now because how agonizing would it be for Abby that her dad's final sacrifice was all in vain?
CKR! I was wondering all through the ep how much of him they could afford and if he would show up yet.

From a writing perspective, I think that would be a great twist, but from a character perspective that makes me feel terrible for Abby.
I hope we're going to see a lot of CKR in the last 3 episodes.

Agreed on Cal being the favourite Islander. He's just so adorable. I really, really hope he makes it through!

I like Jimmy as a suspect, too--though that makes me feel pretty bad for Abby, because damn. Bad enough to have your dad die in front of you just like your mom did, all to save your boyfriend, but then to find out said boyfriend was behind it? That would just compound the awfulness.
