things that make it all worthwhile

I had a pretty terrible week at work, capped by a perfectly awful day today (lots and lots of people complaining to me about things I couldn't fix, and lots of stupid glitchy technical problems, one of which needed to be redone seven times--in about a 25 step process each time!--before I finally fixed it), but my day is ending 1000 times better because of three wonderful things:

1. Dinner and a movie with the always delightful [livejournal.com profile] rsadelle; we had yummy vegan food and then went to see Julie and Julia, which was completely made of win; I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a really long time, and my comment as it ended was that I could watch the entire thing over again immediately, I loved it so much.

2. Psych, which is always wonderful but today did a fabulous homage to the Exorcist that I really enjoyed

3. A wonderful plot development in the latest section posted of [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster's marvellous A Kept Boy universe, one I've been looking forward to a long time.

Oh, fandom, you make my life bearable. After tonight I'm not even feeling too bad about having to work this weekend.

That always sucks: You send most of your waking hours in one place and that place happens to suck? Sucky. But I hope things look up soon. Hang in there.

Well, I did finish a major project, so things will probably lighten up a bit fairly soon, but thanks for the encouraging words.

complaining to me about things I couldn't fix,
Ohh, that sounds familiar! It gets tiring. Glad fandom is bringing you happy dear! :)

Yes, I recall your rant. Lots of similar issues, really. Thanks for the hugs!

sorry it was such a bad week for you. hope next week is sunshine and puppies!

i've bookmarked that wip. it's not my fandom, but it sounds intriguing. lately i can't find anything worth reading! (i'm in-between fandoms, actually. it's a lonely place. *g*)

Well, it's an RPS slave AU, so it's pretty much like original fiction cast with familiar faces. And I have to say, as a connoisseur of slave fic, it's pretty amazing; the worldbuilding is terrific and she really does a great job dealing with the political and personal consequences of a society where slavery is legal, but of course I'm primarily into it for the Jeff/Jensen relationship.

It's pretty epically long right now--65 parts or something like that? with I think at least 10 more before it is done--but it's definitely worth it.

In the hopes that free stuff will bring a little joy: do you want a set of the Vividcon DVDs? I have extras.

Oh, wow, that would be fantastic! Thank you so much!!!!

(And considering the last time I saw you in person I wasn't sure if I'd be employed at all right now, I guess I should complain less about my work stress, because at least I have work to stress about.)

Not just one wonderful thing, but THREE!

Yay you!

I'm glad you have some happy to counterbalance all the stress.
