TV, TV

Ok, all you folks who have been talking about what an amazing show Glee is know of what you speak. About three minutes into it, I realized that even though I really don't have time for another new show, I'm going to have to make time. I have always loved Jane Lynch, and Sue Sylvester is so hilarious I don't even have words. (The other characters are also various shades of wonderful, but I'm watching it for Jane Lynch).

I also watched the Leverage finale, even though I missed a few episodes, and now I have a question:

What on earth happened to Sophie? Is the actress on maternity leave or something? Not that I'm complaining--Sophie's plotlines were always the ones I was least interested in, and I love Jeri Ryan, so if she's filling in/taking over, I'm excited, but what is it that made Sophie leave in the first place? (I don't care if you spoil me; I watch Leverage mainly for the banter, not the plot. Well, and for my favorite threesome of wonderfulness, Parker/Hardison/Eliot.)

A couple episodes ago Sophie ran into an old partner and pretended to get killed to fool him and they ended up burying an empty coffin, but then Sophie was all, nobody knows who I am because I don't know who I am, yadda, yadda. And so she's going on this self-discovery journey to bury all her old identities and find the real her.

Whatever, I don't watch for her either. More importantly, was this really the finale? There were only nine episodes!

Also, yes, the actress is pregnant.

Ah, I *thought* they were doing a lot of the "film her only from the shoulders up" thing.

Yeah, it was the "finale," though it comes back in January. (They only did nine eps? I wasn't really keeping track, but that does seem short even for a split season). And thanks--I wondered what on earth prompted her to leave.

Ahhh, good to know. I started panicking there for a minute when I thought they wouldn't be back.

It's a split season of fifteen eps. They were originally going to do seven in the summer and eight in the winter, but TNT bumped two eps up to the summer.

Oooh, a whole fifteen. I was only expecting 12 episodes, because that's what they have first season.

Yay, more Glee fans! :D And yes, Jane Lynch gets the BEST lines!

She definitely does. Best archnemesis ever!

lol, yeah. Sue and the principal are my favorite characters right off the bat.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, the principal is also great.

[identity profile] latxcvi.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Sue Sylvester and the Principal both a lot, because they hit my button re: The Cranky Misanthrope something fierce. I was hooked through the pilot, but Showmance convinced me it wasn't a fluke.

And yay, another Parker/Hardison/Eliot fan! They're my new favorite OT3 for sure.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I really do love the cranky misanthrope character. And the principal is also made of win. (Did I miss an episode of Glee? Oops. I've been working so many nights lately my TV viewing is all messed up).

Parker/Hardison/Eliot could completely have their own show and I would watch it. In fact, I really need to get an icon for them.

The premiere and director’s cut of the premiere aired last week and you can catch the latter on hulu.com. I’m with you with really loving Sue and the Principal. Just from the lines they threw in the teasers, I knew they were gonna be my faves once I started watching.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
SO there was a premiere before this? Because it really felt like a premiere. Hmm. I guess I'll watch the real premiere if I have time.

[identity profile] cinderella81.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for Glee!!!! It's definitely a must watch show!!

And Leverage? While Sophie is not really my favorite ... I'm not sure how I feel about Jeri Ryan's character ... And Sophie left to 'find herself' ... to get past all of her aliases to find ... her.

I watch Leverage for the banter and for Parker, Hardison and most definitely Eliot! *wink*

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thanks! I guess we'll have to see how Jeri Ryan's character goes. I think it'll be a good change to have someone in the group who isn't primarily motivated by altruism, at least at the outset. And I must say, even though I suspected her from the beginning, I *loved* her reveal at the end.

Wait, did you not see episode 7 (where the guy tries to kill her)? I could've sworn I talked to someone about that ep, and it seems most likely to have been you. Huh.

I think I have to stop following Devlin, Rogers, and Berg and stop reading about the show. I've been waaaaaay too spoiled. (I actually knew Jeri Ryan was a grifter going into this ep, so I just kept waiting for the reveal.)

My big question about this ep is: Was Parker wearing Eliot's shirt at the end? Plaid is not her usual fashion statement.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I saw half of the episode where the guy tries to kill her? I came home late and turned it on halfway, though it's still taped and waiting to be watched.

I think it was quite apparent that Ryan was a grifter, just like it was obvious the charity lady was going to turn out to be the daughter--but like I said, I don't really watch it for the plot.

Oh no, I have already taped over it, so I can't investigate the matter of Parker's shirt!

Since you know all, how long is Sophie going to be gone because of GB's pregnancy?

Ahhh, well, it was the end of that episode where she essentially takes off, although we don't know it for sure until the next ep where she's gone, but everyone keeps calling her for advice.

Did you by any chance catch who played the charity lady/daughter? She looked familiar, but IMDb doesn't have much about this ep yet.

It's plaid! She's wearing it over something else, and she's not really a plaid person.

I don't know. They must be doing at least small bits with her throughout the season, because Tim tweeted photos of himself and Beth with Gina yesterday. (Today's the last day of filming for S2.)

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's kind of serendipitous planning, to end filming on the day after the mid-season finale. (So are they off until January, then?)

I don't know exactly when they come back, just that they're going to be back in Portland.
