Eastwick?

Is anyone else planning on watching Eastwick tonight? I thought I might check it out for Paul Gross, but every single review I've seen has basically said it sucks, so I don't know (and I didn't sleep much last night, so I may collapse before it comes on).

Hellll yes. I honestly don't care if it sucks, I'm so excited for Paul Gross :D:D

:D

It's funny, he's playing the devil, but I can't stop thinking of his character as "the anti-Fraser."

I.... might. Mostly because I don't think anything else is on tonight.

Even the previews kind of horrify me (though I confess I hated the book, too, so that's not surprising), but perhaps it will turn out to be the kind of cheesy supernatural soap that's worth watching?

After last night I'm gonna go with a resounding "not unless Vampire Diaries rots my brain completely and I'm both drunk and desperate when there's a marathon on."

I don't get ABC, but I'm going to have to check it out at some point because Steve Carlson's in an ep. (But I don't know which one.)

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, interesting.I didn't know Steve acted.

He doesn't - he's performing. He said he did something like four songs, which they must just be playing bits of.

And he's very helpful - he just tweeted that he's not on tonight, but next week.

It was glorious soapy cheesy fun, actually, so I don't think it will be a chore for you to watch next week.

I don't know. I'm going to watch Glee (for now), and my attention span and energy is limited by the end of the day. I'm pretty high right now, but after I go to the gym, there may be collapsing. I might download and give it a try, just because my days don't have enough tv shows with pretendy fun time witches in them.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, assuming I stay awake I'll post my impressions, but just from the preview clips on TV I'm thinking this variety of witchcraft is going to have me cringing. I hope I am wrong.

I've got it marked to record, and well...

PAUL GROSS WITHOUT A SHIRT!

*swoons*

There was a time when I would have had the same reaction, but I think my PG love has migrated from seriously lustful to more intellectual. Alas. That means the show has to be good; his nekkid chest just won't be enough for me.

[identity profile] droolfangrrl.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm giving it a look. So far the gals he has to play against are... eh ok. I really enjoyed the movie so I'll give it a try and hope for the best.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I actually hated the movie and the book, and yet I liked the show. And you were totally right about his chest. Actually he totally makes this show worth watching.

[identity profile] droolfangrrl.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
I donno, the three gals who were playing the witches didn't seem to have enough character in their characterizations.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
They were stereotypes, sure, but I actually liked Rebecca Romijn's character a lot, and I thought the other two had definite possibility.

[identity profile] droolfangrrl.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
I kept wanting to hollar, "PUT SOME OOMPH INTO IT LADIES!" at the tv. :D I rather like Suki's friend and the no good hubby.

Have you ever seen Slings & Arrows?

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-25 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
No, although I've heard good things about it.

[identity profile] droolfangrrl.livejournal.com 2009-09-25 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
It's really good.

I'm leaning towards no...I was thinking on it, but at this point, Wednesday is one of the only nights of the week that I don't have something I REALLY feel like watching - and I kinda like the break. :) However, a part of me is afraid that everyone is going to be crazy about it and then I'll be all "Damn....guess I know what I have to do now!" So needless to say, I'll be checking back to see what you thought of it! ;-)

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-09-24 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
It was cheesy fun, mostly because of Paul Gross. Not must-see TV, but you might enjoy it.
