smutrecs, compiled

At the urging of [livejournal.com profile] enderwiggin24, I compiled all the recs from February's smutrecs fest and posted them to [livejournal.com profile] svroundtable. For those of you who were bookmarking them for later reading, this might be an easier format for you, though I did edit them down quite a bit (e.g. took out any long quotes from the stories).

The Clex recs, authors A-N, are here.

Clex recs, authors N-Z, are here.

All non-Clex smutrecs are here.

It turns out I recommended exactly 100 SV stories, which was not in any way planned, but does give me a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

Ah, you rock! I have bookmarked this for future reference... because I need to keep up my Lent porn quota. Of course I shall be pornless for two whole days now... and I have to drive people to the conference. Can I last for two hours in a car with a work colleagues *without* mentioning any of my fannish interests?? *bites nails* I am not sure it is possible. Wah!

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean. Sometimes, when I have spent hours doing something fannish that gives me a big sense of accomplishment, and then people ask me what I've been up to lately, and all I can really say to them is "nothing much" because I really don't *want* them to know I spent 10 hours reading through stories at SSA looking for smutrecs I might have missed...it pretty much sucks.

Though I am open about my Smallville fannishness, just not so much the slash aspect.

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. I can't really explain that part. And it's true--you can spend hours doing something fannish and feel that you really achieved something, but then you walk outside and can't admit it. I'm probably more productive than most people I know, but the hours I spend at my computer don't count for much in many people's eyes (except my dear LJ friends!). And even there I feel comparatively under-productive. *sigh*

I am puddling around on LJ this morning at work because I will be DEPRIVED for the next couple of days.

Oh! Your icon!!!! Guh!

By the way, you write amazing, thoughtful essays that really illuminate SV in ways that not many people can do. So I wouldn't worry about comparing yourself to other people on LJ.

And I was just thinking about how our secret slash lives make us like, um, Clark. (Or maybe more like Buffy, because we do have a gang of people who understand us. Or Sydney Bristow on Alias, before she was a full-time spy). We have secret lives! That's actually a cool thing, really. Ok, so we're not saving the world, but still. Secret identities! How can that be a bad thing?

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Heeee!! I got you with my icon!
And since we're on the subject of Lee and hotness, have you read < ahref="http://svilleficrecs.livejournal.com/25078.html">Something Pretty? It is smutty but great Kara/Lee. No spoilers and lots of great pilot banter.

And yes, what a nice way of thinking of it--secret lives! Do I get a mask and a cape?! *flashes to Clark as Zorro* You are right. This cannot be a bad thing.

Wow. I really frakked up that link didn't I! Still. You can clicky anyway.

I made this icon to give to you, but I can't figure out how to upload a picture in the comment box.

how to upload links for pics or the pics itself in LJ comments.txt

[personal profile] ender24 2006-03-07 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
well, for showing pics at comments, you could try imageshack, its not requiring you to sign up for an account.
http://imageshack.us/

after you have uploaded the picture to imageshack, they will present you a couple of links:

for LJ comments, I normally use, depending on the size of the pic, either "thumbnail for websites" (for the large pics)
or "hotlinks for websites" for small pics, they will immidiately show up in their full size.

this is what shows up, after you uploaded

Thumbnail for Websites x

Thumbnail for forums (1)

Thumbnail for forums (2)

Hotlink for forums (1)

Hotlink for forums (2)

Hotlink for Websites x

Show image to friends

Direct link to image

OR, if you have the direct link url to the picture, you can also use that :
you just need to choose instead of upload from "file"
upload from "url" and copy&paste the url of the image into that field
and then click on "Host it".

still questions??!

Thanks! I really appreciate the advice! I will try this when I have a little more time, and let you know if I have any questions.
