6 TV shows meme
I've seen this floating around and thought it was fun.
List your six favorite TV shows, in no particular order:
1. Buffy
2. Angel
3. Due South
4. Smallville
5. Joan of Arcadia
6. Veronica Mars
1. Who is your favourite character from #2?
Although Lilah and Cordelia would tie for runner up, I think I have to go with Wesley, because I loved him *both* as nerdy pretentious demon-hunter AND as broody betrayer.
2. Who is your least favourite character from #4?
Wow, this question could *not* be easier: Lana Lang. (How original of me!)
3. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include?
I think Buffy would definitely get to have a long conversation with God, even though she didn't know it was God at the time. And Luke and Grace should get to have fun conversations with Andrew and Xander and slay something. Ok, maybe not slay something, since JoA definitely disapproved of that approach to evil, but avert some apocalyptic catastrophe.
4. What is your favourite ship from #6?
Oh, I would love to see Veronica/Mac, although I don't really read a lot of fanfic for VMars. I have to admit I liked late season one Logan/Veronica, but now Logan scares me, as much as I love the character--I would definitely not pair him with Veronica.
5. If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be?
Keith Mars and Maggie Thatcher would be a fun pairing. Or maybe Francesca and, um, that sleazy lawyer who's always helping Veronica, whose name is something like Cliff?
6. If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do?
Dude, I would *so* be having sex with Lex Luthor the whole day long. Or with Chloe Sullivan, that's a really hard decision there, actually.
But realistically, I'd love to just hang out with Chloe and get to know her. OR sit Clark down, watch a Buffy marathon with him, and point out that people can learn your deep dark secret and NOT betray you.
7. If you could change one thing about #2's plot line, what would you change?
Bring Lilah back to life, and have more seasons, dammit!
8. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them.
I love Joan's relationship with God--it hit just the right blend of actual wisdom and being cryptic to really work. I think, really, this was pretty much the most intelligent show about religion ever produced, and I was deeply sad when it got cancelled.
9. If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
Well, it depends on the intent of the question. If it's who I like better and therefore whose life I'd be more inclined to save, it would be Fraser. But assuming we're acting like they're real people, Buffy is more important to the world in the long run, so I'd save her--and I think Fraser would agree with my decision (damn noble Mountie).
10. If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose?
Michael Rosenbaum
John Glover
Allison Mack
Tom Welling
Erica Durance
Kristin Kreuk
and Annette O'Toole (last the way senior actors who aren't the star get "and famous actor"). I almost left KK out completely, but I'm actually kind of interested in where they're going with Lexana, so I decided to keep her, just not in a starring role.
11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like and what would their role be?
Actually, Veronica Mars has an excellent range of characters--some of the best use of bit and supporting characters I've ever seen. I can't think of any to add.
12. What happens in your favorite episode of show #2?
Angel turns into a wee little puppet man. Yes, I am easy. (Ok, my second favorite is the episode where Lilah comes back from the dead to offer the Angel gang Wolfram and Hart, and Wesley goes along just to try to destroy her eternal contract. It always makes me tear up).
13. If you could kill off one of the characters of #1, who would it be and how would you do it?
NO! If anything, I would unkill Tara and Anya and Jenny Calendar and Joyce and Jonathan and Jesse ...Really, the show doesn't need any more deaths. Ok, I could maybe kill Kennedy, as part of a scenario when Tara was brought back from the dead, but I didn't hate her, really.
14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose?
Oooh, that's really tough, because I'd really, really like to meet GothGod. But I think, all in all, Due South had an amazing cast and writing crew who I'd love to meet.
15. So, I saved the best question for last. If you could date anyone from any of these shows, which show and which person?
Yeah, like it's possible to pick one. I can't even pick one PER SHOW. Here's my two per show, one of each gender:
Buffy: Rupert Giles and Cordelia Chase
Angel: Wesley Wyndham Price and Lilah Morgan
Due South: Ray Veccho and Maggie Thatcher. (Yeah, I know, CKR, but I can't help it--RayV just *does* it for me. And honestly I can't believe there isn't more Thatcher fic out there--she is *so* damn hot).
Smallville: Lex Luthor and Chloe Sullivan
Joan of Arcadia: GothGod and Grace
Veronica Mars: Wallace and Mac
I guess, if really forced to pick someone I could *realistically* date and have a relationship with that didn't end up in tears or murder, it would be Mac from VMars, mainly because her life is less dangerous than Chloe Sullivan's. I would love it to be Lex, but realistically I couldn't deal with all the danger in his life, or the in-law factor.

It was an extremely well written show--God never really explained anything to Joan, and it wasn't in the least bit preachy. It was also an excellent family drama--Joan's family was very interesting and well written, and of course they didn't know God was appearing to her. Her dad was chief of police, in their small city, and her mom was an artist. She had two brothers--one was a geeky math genius, and her older brother used to be a star athlete before a car accident left him wheelchair bound. A lot of the first season, which was definitely the best season, dealt with the aftermath of Kevin's accident and how everyone was coping with it.
In fact, what I tend to think of as the very best piece of fanfiction EVER was written about Joan of Arcadia:

I like your Lois icon. Which reminds me--are you still having trouble with yahoo mail? I sent you some Lois icons I made a little earlier today (I've been on an icon-making spree yesterday and today), but I remember you were having trouble accessing yahoo earlier this month. Let me know if you don't get them, or if you've gotten an alternate email address.

*excited about icons*

This icon, by the way, is Goth God who I mention above--definitely my favorite avatar, although this isn't the best picture of him, but I didn't find too many when googling around.

That picture is fascinating. I'm so intrigued! I want to hunt this show out some time.

if i could date anyone from SV, i'd have picked bo kent before they offed him. bet he'd have been fun with a few beers in him. :D

You've really never seen Buffy or Angel? They're both excellent shows--very well-written and very pretty casts.
I put TW 4th because to me, the real show is "The Luthors" (or maybe "Metropolis", and in that show TW is really a supporting actor, not the star.
I agree that Jonathan was cute, but since most of the time he made me want to slap some sense into him, you can definitely have him!

no, i've never seen buffy or angel. thing is, i don't watch tv. when i caught the Michael Rosenbaum bug, i bought his movies and the first 3 seasons of SV on dvd. still haven't waded through all the episodes! it's typical of me that it's the fandom i really like, while canon is of less interest.
the luthors! ha, yeah. the villains are always more interesting than the good guys. ;)
jonathan was a big windbag, full of self-righteousness. for many episodes, i hated him for working to push lex away. then i decided john schneider was pretty hot. oh, i tell you, i am profoundly shallow! *g*

(last day of shooting for JS, with bo kent about to buy the farm. again. glover stands close beside him near the camera, watching as the death scene is blocked and set up. he leans in closer still and murmurs into john's ear, "i'm going to miss you." john doesn't flinch, doesn't even look at him, just murmurs back, "i'll miss you too." their shoulders brush just as the director calls for john's presence on-camera. glover watches him walk away with regretful eyes. he calls out softly, "come see me in my trailer when it's over." fade to black.)
