Quick, mainly shallow thoughts on Icarus
Spoilers, natch.
1. I was amused at how Lois kept foiling Clark's romantic proposal plans in very cute ways, but I'm glad to see he finally got the proposal out, and that she said yes right away.
Also, she was extremely cute when she kept trying to get people to acknowledge the engagement.
2. I loved the Chloe congrats--Chloe *should* be there in some way for Lois' big news. I also loved the surprise engagement party, which was totally sweet.
3. I was getting a little annoyed at everyone's automatic assumption that Lois would take Clark's name, so I was happy they at least had her entertain the possibility of Lois Kent-Lane.
4. I know Darkseid's influence is spreading, but damn, the descent into mob violence and a police state (curfew?) is happening really quickly.
5. I really loved that we got a female military officer as one of the bad guys, and I really liked how steely both Lois and Tess were in their showdowns with her.
6. So Tess has an escape slide in her office? Awesome.
7. Cat's about-face on vigilantes seemed way too abrupt to me.
8. The Hawkman rescue of Lois was pretty awesome. Ok, Hawkman, if you have to have a cheesy heroic death a la the Icarus theme, I suppose that was a good one.
9. I'm not gonna lie, even though Carter did absolutely nothing for me, that funeral scene made me tear up a little bit, and I thought it was gorgeously shot (especially compared to the dark scenes of most of the rest of the episode). And I'm dying to know what the white light was.
