Fannish things

1. I mainlined season 1 of Justified and I am completely hooked. Season 2 is going to have to wait until I switch internet providers and can download things, though.

2. X-men was completely made of awesome slashiness, and I totally want to see it again.

3. I am currently watching Stonehenge Apocalypse, which is precisely the glorious cheestastic B-movie everybody told me it would be. Exactly the background music I needed for an evening trolling the internets for Charles/Erik slash. (But good grief, what is UP with Tori Higginson's total inability to hold a British accent for a complete sentence?)

Oh, god, Misha Collins, you are so hilarious. EVERY SINGLE LINE is making me laugh. There really ought to be a drinking game for this movie.

ETA: Spoilers for all of these in the comments. Please don't spoil me for s2 of Justified, though!

1. Ooh, I did this recently as well. Haven't watched S2, either. What do you think of all the characters? I haven't had anyone to talk to about the show yet, so it would be nice to hear your thoughts.

2. I loved it, even though it was really, really cheesy at times. Fassbender and McAvoy completely made up for the weak plot, IMO.

1. I love Raylan at least in part because he's so flawed. Well, everyone in this universe is flawed, so I think it's a really interesting examination of what sorts of moral mistakes put you over the line, and whether you can come back from them or not. I mean, Boyd is *such* an interesting character. I hated him so much at the beginning, but by the end of the season I almost found him sympathetic--I believe he actually is undergoing a crisis of faith (and I was very happy that he didn't actually end up shooting his father).

I'm a little less fond of the depiction of Ava(I admire her tenacity, but really wish she had the sense to get out of Kentucky) and Winona (I liked her until she slept with Raylan, actually), but I think I blame the writers more than the characters for that.

I actually think I'm most fond of the villains-of-the-week; they're so INTERESTING. Sometimes I hate them and sometimes I feel sorry for them, but I never find them boring.

2. If the plot was weak, I didn't really notice it, because I loved the STYLE of it so much. I'm a sucker for the '60s Bond aesthetic, and this movie had that in spades. I did notice the race and gender failiness, which was annoying, but the Charles/Erik doomed romance (and the Charles/Raven doomed sibling relationship) made up for a lot of that for me. And OMG, January Jones! I don't know X-Men comic canon at all, so I don't know about other versions of Emma Frost, but GUH and DAMN were my primary reactions.

Also, going into this I had no idea Kevin Bacon was in this movie, and I thought he was a perfect villain.

Raylan Givens! So... very nice-looking man. Someone on Pajiba noted that sometime in the recent past an impossible miracle happened, and Olyphant became the hottest man on the planet, past Johnny Depp. This way or that, the years have been kind to TO, and a little gray in his hair only has mede him more attractive... And before you ask, I too am hooked on Justified. And Olyphant. A little.

He definitely is hot, though I don't know if I would say the hottest man on the planet. :-)
