Beauty and the Beast
So I liked every single thing about this show except what is undoubtedly going to be the central romance.
I thought KK was fabulous, and I loved that she's getting to play a smart, bantery character. I also loved that her partner was a woman and that they work so well together. I thought the opening scene did a tremendous job establishing her backstory (and hurray that her mom was actually Asian--Smallville, I'm still side-eyeing you for that), and in the 2 minutes of screentime her mom got I started liking her enough that I was really sad that she died. I hope it turns out she was investigating the soldier serum so we'll get to see her in flashbacks or something.
I definitely like the idea that Catherine is now caught up in investigating a larger conspiracy (and wow, I hope they let her kick ass every week; I was very impressed with that fight scene), and while the case they were investigating wasn't particularly gripping, I did enjoy the investigation. The only thing I didn't really like was Vincent. Or rather, I like him kind of in the abstract (though you would think a doctor would at least investigate before allowing himself to be experimented on medically!!), but I'm not really into her relationship with him. I am fine with her being intrigued by him and relieved to discover she's not crazy, but I don't actually like him, which I can see may turn out to be a problem, given that their relationship is going to be the center of the show.
We'll see, I guess. Maybe I will grow to like him.
