Captain America: Winter Soldier
I should really be in bed, because tomorrow morning is going to suck, but a few thoughts on the film, which I really enjoyed, and probably also spoilers for this week's Agents of SHIELD (as well as obvious spoilers for CA!)
The only thing I really didn't like about this film was that they made Sitwell into a Hydra agent. I mean, it is subject to fannish retconning, of course--maybe he was a double secret Nick Fury spy--but I liked Sitwell, dammit! Still, I guess it has a little more impact because it was someone I (and presumably other fans) liked. And since Sitwell was just on AOS, I feel like I have to rewatch that episode, because damnit--wasn't Jemma supposed to be on the Triskelion? Did she make it out alive? And Skye was just formally made a Shield agent; she's going to be so pissed. Plus if Victoria Hand doesn't turn out to be Hydra I'll be very surprised!
Anyway, I did love this film a lot, but it was a LOT different than I was expecting. I really thought there would be a lot more Bucky angst--that Steve would find out a lot earlier and spend more of the movie worried about redeeming him. I hope we'll get to see at least some of that in Cap 3, because I really want more Steve/Bucky goodness. (Not that what we got wasn't good--I mean, Bucky didn't even need the cosmic cube or to be deprogrammed to remember Steve, not once but twice! And they saved each other! And Steve refused to leave him on the ship! And that flashback to the day of Steve's mom's funeral was great! I just wanted more, more, more.)
I also loved that Natasha had such a substantial role, and while I definitely can ship Steve/Natasha (or preferably, Steve/Natasha/Bucky), I'm actually glad that canonically they're going more for friendship, because there's not enough good male-female friendship in the movies. Still, I'm a little surprised they decided to make it canon that she was born in 1984, which means no backstory with Bucky. (Though I suppose they could have wiped her memories?)
The conspiracy plot was great, and I'm AMAZED they actually took down SHIELD as a whole, and really curious about what that's going to mean for AOS. I especially love Maria Hill ending up at Stark Industries; she and Pepper can take over the world together, as far as I'm concerned.
I also really loved Falcon, and his relationship with Steve. I was actually expecting the fact that he does PTSD counselling to be more of a plot point, though. It's weird, but I feel like maybe Steve is adjusting to modern life too easily? Or something like that. I mean, the scene with Peggy was great and heartbreaking, but I guess I wanted a little more of that sort of thing, somehow? I loved all the action sequences--damn, that man and Natasha (and Winter Soldier) are just amazing to watch in motion--but I kind of wanted a little less thriller/action and a little more character relationship stuff, I guess.
Which isn't going to stop me from going to see this again a couple more times, of course.

I was gratified by all of the Steve/Bucky stuff that we got, but like you, I'm a bit greedy. I want MOAR. Still, the movie as a whole was very, very good for me. I want to see it at least twice more in the theater.

I was sort of EH about the first movie, but enjoyed this a whole of a lot more. I felt like they left a lot of things hanging a bit more. I was hoping Falcon's self-help group for soldiers would ping something in Steve, because while I LOVE how freakishly competent he is in taking over that ship in the beginning, I also feel like they wasted a lot of potential with regards to Steve!angst.
Also, this might just be me, but every time he throws his shield, it makes me think of Xena...
Man, I might actually have to go looking for fic now!

I just really wanted more angst all around (Steve, Bucky, heck, even Natasha and Nick Fury), though I did enjoy the conspiracy and action stuff.
