Since I suspect I will not embed this properly, the direct link is here. It looks good! (The first minute is mostly recap of last season but then there is actual preview stuff.) Premiere date is October 8, which seems a thousand years away.

In other news, Lucy was LOLariously bad. Like, I was literally laughing so hard at the end I almost couldn't stand up hilarious badness. Nevertheless, I can't wait for the inevitable Lucy/Black Widow fusions--they couldn't help but be better than the movie.

That movie would have been so much better if I'd been on a mood-altering substance. Especially the animal parts.

I honestly thought the animal parts were parody, at the beginning, until it became all too clear that they weren't. The person I saw this with compared those parts to a bad film school exercise, and I basically agree.

One thing I wasn't clear on was whether Johannson's performance was parody. Once she got drugged up, she seemed to me to be playing the role like a guy would have: with a resolute lack of interiority, making her initial personality (which I was glad to see was not dumb) irrelevant.

Well, the script didn't seem to give her much interiority either, so maybe that was a deliberate choice? I thought, for a little bit, they were trying to play with the idea that as her powers increased, she lost more and more of her humanity--and if they'd taken that somewhere further, they could have done something interesting with it, but instead apparently it just leads to driving the wrong direction down one-way streets while staring blankly at things. :-( Or turning into a sentient computer who apparently becomes God? Which is, I suppose, what the human goal in life is, according to the film?

Seriously, WHAT was up with the animal stuff? I really, really don't get what Luc Besson thought he was doing. I honestly blocked all that out until this thread, just because it was SO out there.

It felt like some weird crossover with a very cheesy documentary about evolution, except when they were being used as laughably obvious metaphors (like the cheetah capturing the gazelle).

I have heard horrible things about Lucy. Which I'm bummed about because this means I'm this much further from getting my Wonder Woman movie and Black Widow movie.

Arrow, I'm behind. Yikes!

Yeah, wanting her to get the Black Widow movie was the primary reason I went to see this, honestly. (Though the box office numbers seem to be fine, so maybe its overall stupidity won't be an issue?)

You still have a couple months to catch up on Arrow, anyway!

The Arrow trailer looks great. I wish DC could handle their movies as well as they seem to be doing with their TV shows.

re: Lucy. Yeah. I left the theater not really being sure what to make of it, to say the least. I'm glad I went, because really the main reasons I went this weekend were a) Scarlett Johansen, and b) I wanted to give a little love to a female-centered action movie. But I had my doubts about this one from the start. It was just a little too out there. And Scarlett stopped being able to act more than one thing about 20 minutes in (not her fault).

I SO agree with you about DC movies v. TV shows. And I just read something from comicon confirming no crossovers between movies and the shows, unlike Marvel, which TBH is something of a relief, since their recent movies have been so very very bad. Whereas Arrow is very very good, and I have high hopes for The Flash.

I was definitely also skeptical going into Lucy, but I thought it might turn out to be a brainless but fun action movie. The sheer number of plot idiocies in this were mind boggling, though--like, if she can make a whole hallway of people fall unconscious, why didn't she do that for all the bad guys?
