ARGH
Just had an actual screaming argument with my brother about Star Wars, of all things, because he refuses to see it because it's "promoting a feminist agenda." More specifically, cut for spoilers) He heard that Rey has Jedi powers without getting trained, which he think is just some feminist b.s. that women get to have powers and Luke had to be trained. And my argument that Luke gets all of maybe an hour of Jedi training before he blows up the death star, and then it got into a crazy movie time v. real time argument, and then he shifted ground to the problems of JJ Abrams (which I agree with, but didn't actually affect Star Wars too much)--and anyway. Ugh. He's one of the relatives I don't usually get into intense arguments with, so it was pretty unexpected and now I am upset. ( Argh. This is not actually the argument I expected to get into (or more accurately, to have to avoid getting into) over the holidays!
