norwich36: (Jump in join the party)

Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

Absolutely! And the author is going to write more on it! Have you read the new little excerpt she posted recently?

[identity profile] leixela.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for your warm welcome! My sis is in denial. She clearly needs therapy. ;)

That piano scene in Spell was so painful to watch. Made me want to just lock Lex up somewhere so no one else can hurt him. I love that scene so much the piano piece is one of my cellphone's ringtones. I'm clearly a masochist here. LOL! I haven't read that fic yet but I'll be sure to check that out. Thanks!

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well, except maybe Pete. I just could never quite go there
Ha! Yes, that makes two of us, and counting...

That lime-green/orange revival around the late 90s was my worst nightmare! Urgh!

I have never met an adjective I did not get along with and have a comma disorder. I shamlessly abuse the word "like"
Self-awareness is a wonderfully charming trait, however. I forgive you! *g*

Good to meet you!

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I know that there is one more story in the series that Lanning has been working on a long time, but I didn't realize she had posted a snippet lately.

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
love that scene so much the piano piece is one of my cellphone's ringtones. I'm clearly a masochist here.
Wow! For me, the most masochistic ringtone I could have would be Running Up That Hill, the Placebo version--due to RivkaT's devastating vid to it (have I pimped her enough yet? ;) ), I can't listen to it without heart pangs... You're a brave one!

Love your icon, too!

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it totally does! We may break 1000 comments at the rate this party is going!!!!

(Anonymous) 2006-05-26 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Your icon pleases me.

My left heel is for crushing. My right foot is for kicking asses.

Saying 'hi' to Lex is a waste of time as Lex Luthor has been squelched. Squelched! Any unforeseen reactions that I may be experiencing with my present body have absolutely nothing to do with him.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, did you notice that ZOd himself has joined us, on page 3? I think we should all go and kneel before him!

[identity profile] leixela.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
*blushes and friends*
Thank you for being such a sweetie! OMG I love your icon! I tried making an animated version of that gorgeous scene too but it was just too big for LJ. Also, your layout is beautiful! Classy! I love the purple. *runs back to stare some more*

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I like the division of labour that you've organised for your body parts. You are clearly an overlord of some skill and experience! Do you have any openings for minions-for-hire? *flutters eyelashes*

Just one question: if Lex is dead, why did you kiss Lana Lang?

[identity profile] leixela.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
No one can. *points to icon* It's those slinky hips that's doing the damage. ;)

[identity profile] althea-astrea.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* I agree, and his lips, too!

btw, wonderful icon!

[identity profile] leixela.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Lol! yes! That was Lex's very first scene! He was all smooth and young and snarky. *loves*

[identity profile] lucidity-0.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
That lime-green/orange revival around the late 90s was my worst nightmare! Urgh!

LOL! Yes, the 90's had its horror moments. Everyone rags on the 80's but, come on, neon colored everything?

Self-awareness is a wonderfully charming trait, however.

*snicker* If only self-awareness accomplished something beyond simply being... aware. :D

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed! And yet, I always breathe a sigh of relief when someone is self-aware about their flaws (or strengths!)... A real 'oh you *know* about it, oh, well, that's alright then!' response! Why is that? *boggles*

[identity profile] leixela.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Is that vid SV too? So many things to check out! Not enough time! *panics and hyperventilates* That said, pls pimp away! lol!

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Most definitely an SV vid! Though a heartbreaker... She's got several good vids here (http://www.rivkat.com/vids.html) (if you can hack the tragedy!).

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Howling with laughter, throwing peanuts, and (on occasion) leaping up and pumping my fist in the air are definitely aspects of my viewing style as well. ;)

[identity profile] serenography.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
So, I lurk more than I post, but...I heard this party had an open bar? *perk*

1. Tell us something about yourself:
I'm old, I'm married, I have 2 great kids. I'm an Army brat who moved around most of my younger life, although I've been in the Chicago area almost 30 years.
I saw Led Zeppelin in concert when I was 16 and cried when Jimmy Page came out. I think I've had fannish leanings for a long time. ;)
I work in OB/Gyne and I love my job. It's fulfilling well beyond just a paycheck.
I was way into Highlander and miss the fun cons. Damn, I wish the SV fandom had great cons like HL did. There's nothing so fun as meeting up with all your online friends at a con and getting crazy for a few days...
I'm also a breast cancer survivor (a term I still dislike, but whatever..). I'm getting better at admitting this to people, lately.
I'm still a bit LJ-challenged, but I'm getting better.

2. Likes: I'll stick to fandom likes..
Well I've always believed in 'say it loud, say it proud'.. Yes, I'm the one and only Lana fan in the LJ community. *wink* What can I say? She's my girl..
I'm a fan of who I consider the Big Three, and I love them in any and all combinations - Clex, Clana, Lexana... and (be still my heart)the very scarce, Clexana.

It's Tom/Clark who rules my fannish world though.. Good freakin' GOD, I will never get over the charisma and raw sexiness of that man. I adore Mike/Lex too..

Other fannish likes (to a lesser degree than SV) are: Supernatural (woof x 3!), Prison Break, Veronica Mars, House, Grey's Anatomy.. and RESCUE ME, which is coming back next week. Everyone needs to watch it, it's indescribably wonderful - funny, sexy, sad, shocking.. you name it.
I also love graphic novels - Sandman being a favorite. I've met Neil at a few readings/signings and I love him too. ;)

3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
Arrogance, fannish snobbery (although easily ignored), I truly detest most reality shows, black licorice (even the smell!), being a patient (reeeally tough for us control freaks), and if I'm going to be completely honest.. I can't stand Chlark, and Chloe tends to get on my nerves (but I do think AM rocks). Oh, and the guy they cast in the new Superman Returns movie? Ugh. Major disappointment.

4. What got you interested in Smallville?
The unearthly beauty of Tom Welling to start, but also the dynamic I saw between Clark and Lex, which still fascinates me. The ill-fated love between Clark and Lana continues to break my heart, and the disintegration of Lex and Clark as best friends (and likely *more*) does the same. I dig the whole Superhero thing, and always have. Christopher Reeve blew me away when I first saw STM in the theater.. and SV/Tom manages to recapture that same magic for me quite often.

5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
There are too many to list.. but off the top of my head, Hidden is at or near the top of the list, Memoria is special to me because I watched it at a time when I was getting ready to send my son off to college. That final scene b/w Martha and Clark left me sobbing..
Splinter, is an amazing showcase for Tom. Reckoning was gorgeous, as was Lexmas. Shattered is a great Lex ep, and I love watching Michael really show his stuff. All the RedK Clark eps make me swooooon, as does Transference.

6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
I really don't reread too often. I do adore Kate's porny offerings, teot's "And Desire Shall Fail," and a wonderful Kalana story called "Twisted Redemption."

7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)
I have a cat named Roxy, and a canary named Chesai.
I'm trying to learn photoshop and finding that I love it.. a lot. I have good friends on both sides of the Lana-fence, but I do get sad sometimes and tired of feeling like a pariah (SV reference! Woot!).

Sorry this is so long.. Have I mentioned my tendency to ramble? *embarrassed*

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Life would be very dull and boring without it. Whatever would I read??

[identity profile] bigmamag.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's all here http://lanning.slashdom.com/, check it out!

[identity profile] althea-astrea.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
There's no life without the gay porn. I mean, gay porn is like... air! *nods*

[identity profile] lucidity-0.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Why is that?

LOL!

Maybe because you no longer have to pretend that it does not exist or that you do not notice?

It could also simply be that as long as they know and it exists out of their choosing, then it becomes less of a 'flaw' and more a 'trait', perhaps.

*shrug* Who knows. lol.

[identity profile] herohunter.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
And I remember watching ZDJJ in 99, lol!! I should have TAPED it, lol!!
:D

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really have anything to say here. So..*waves* I love your writing so very much! Whenever you post a new story I get all happy and go read it immediately. Which I've probably mentioned before...but it never hurts to repeat it! :)
