Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

Oh that would be heartbreaking to sit through. But you are so lucky to be going. Def enjoy it and then report back to me about *everything*. I'll expect a ten to twelve page dance review, double spaced, twelve inch font... no extensions.

Can't we just settle on Clex porn?

It's very reassuring to come across other literary snobs who love Smallville. When I was first falling in love with the show, I kept having this "but I used to be so *highbrow*" angst over it. I've mostly stopped angsting, but I find myself setting up these weird reward systems -- e.g. "Okay, if I make it though another hundred pages of Tolstoy today, I get to watch two more episodes tonight" -- as if to prove to myself that my brain isn't really turning to mush.

The thing about the Identical series is that I'll think, oh, I'll just read the first piece and then I'll stop. But I never do stop. I've promised myself not to read it again until it's finished; we'll see how long that promise lasts.

*giggles*

I bow before you cause' you chose Lex

[identity profile] slinkling.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Always nice to have new friends. A little weird to have them on the basis of dyed pubic hair, but hey, whatever. ;-)

Hee! Thank you. Delurking day rocks. (Excellent icon, by the way.)

You reread A Life More Ordinary?! I can't bring myself to. No fic has ever made me cry as much as that one. And I know that it's happy, but it really is one of the most romantic things I've ever read and even thinking about it now is making me want to burst into tears. It's sitting in my bedroom and I know I need to read it again but I just don't think I can handle that much emotion. *sobs*

[identity profile] fleegull.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
No! No, you're not! I swear there is someone else on my f'list who fangirls her...

That could be me! I think she's fabulous and I can see how a girl like that would probably get away with murder simply because she's gorgeous and has that whole orphan thing going on - and, that does not bother me one bit. I also love her clothes including the oft maligned pink phase, because I love pink (I'm wearing it right down to my shoes right now and that includes my underwear).

I liked her with Clark, I enjoyed the hell out of her relationship with Jason and I was sorry to see the character take the odd turn he did (but that had a lot to do with the fact that Jensen got the job on Supernatural) and I am loving her with Lex. The not really relationship with Adam was pretty great - it was too bad about him being a zombie. The girl gets paired up with the best looking ugys and I am a lover of all things beautiful so by default I have to love her.

I try. :-)

[identity profile] althea-astrea.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
And pretty much anyone named Jack.

I was sure, from ages 13 to 17, that'll marry someone named Jack!

[identity profile] chimosa.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, yeah. It was never actually finished for some reason or another but my friend did make a music video of clips and outtakes that's on youtube. I only ask, though, that you don't comment on it or anything. I love my friends but I really don't want them to find out I write gay superman porn. I'd never live it down.

The first little bit is hard to hear but it's an actual homeless guy from south beach that wanted to be in the movie, which just makes the footage that much more priceless.

It's the best reason to get into sv, we rule I must say.

Concerning my tattoos I have a little black dragon on the right shoulder, the yin & yang with tribal ornaments on the base of my neck and a rose on my ankle. I think I'm done (for now lol).

Oh and mine is a nose piercing (I also have five ear piercings).

Y Tú Mama También is a great movie. I love Gael García Bernal, the actor!

1. Tell us something about yourself: I'm a woman and I love it! We get to wear the best clothes and there is nothing finer than a woman's body - and I'm a straight girl saying that. Plus, it's really fun having men fall all over themselves for us, it's rather cute, don't you think? I am all about aesthetics: beautiful people and beautiful clothes make me a very happy girl.

2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff): My favorite thing in the whole wide world is ballet. I think a dnacer's body is the most exquisite form the human body can have. things that don't work for me as plays or movies do as dance, like Romeo and Juliet, as a play it's too depressing (i have a huge squick about young eople killing themselves) but as a allet it *works*. Howard Stern is like a demigod to me. I love his show more than I could ever post, which is probably why I don't really ever write about it. It's perfect and funny and it makes me laugh everyday.

My favorite thing about SV is probably Lana. I love Lex and Clark but I simply adore the girl. I can see how she would probably get all the breaks she does simply for being *her*, so I don't mind when the characters seem to constantly cut her so much slack. I also have a huge amount of love for the gemale guest stars on the show, so much so that I actively follow their careers: Emmanuelle Vaugier is my absolute favorite with Missy Peregrym right on her heels I have a soft spot in my heart for kelly Brook and I love seeing pictures of her frolicking on the each with the not good enough in a illion years for her Billy Zane. I know that both Adrienne Palicki (Kara) and Sarah Carter (Alicia) have new shows coming on in the fall. I have also taken a huge liking to Denise Quinones (Andrea Rojas aka: Batchiqua) because hello! hot Puerto Rican chick! She was a big reason why I was hoping Aquaman would make it to the CW.

As for the pairings, my favorite is Lexana but I enjoyed the sweeter moments of the Clana relationship, especially when they finally got it on.

There is no room here to list all of the shows that I watch due to the sheer volume but I think that the Winter Olympics was the best thing that I will see this year tv wise. I love figure skating but when the Olympics roll around I tune out everything else and this year was awesome. I actually buy into the dream that perhps through sports, the world can come together and find a common ground on which to buld a peaceful planet - go figure. My favorite show period right now is The Sopranos: it's a religion in my house. I went to school with a bunch of mobster's kids and the show is like a documentary. I know not of the boring-ness that people are stlking about thos season.

3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) : The only fandom I have ever been active in is SV and I know that it will be the only one. I have seen way too much hate directed at female characters in SV that has me dismayed because I like the female characters. There is a nasty strek that permeates where some fans are made out to be stupid for liking things that are enjoyed by the fandom at large or even for continuing to just like a show. Yeah, Ive been way turned off to fandom but not the LJ thing because I like reading about people's lives and the things that they love be it tv, work, family, friends, hobbies, travel. Life is a lot more than just the things we have in common.

7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.): I would never wear brown (EW!) or orange (doesn't work on me). More importantly: WTF is up with the dresses over pants thing continuing? It makes the wearer look like she has no short term memory, she put on the pants and then forgot she had them on and put on a dress. I already live in New York, if I was a billionaire I would just live better in New York. My cousin once told me that he could never picture me living anywhere else and I told him "Why would anyone live anywhere other than New York?"

He looks like a sulky little bitch there.

But maybe Lex can cheer him up.

Besides, he's hotter when he's dangerous.
