Well, I finally succumbed to buying a calorie counter, and it has really helped, because the fat content of things is not always what you would expect. At the moment, it's winter here, so I'm craving lots of winter comfort foods--puddings and so on. So one of my favourite treats is draining a can of apricots and adding a teaspoon or so of brown sugar, some chopped up hazlenuts and some sultanas to them. If you stir it all around and let it sit a bit, then zap it in the microwave, it's really yummy and puddingy without being high fat! In summer, I love plain low fat yoghurt with frozen raspberries mixed through--they defreeze really quickly and add sweetness, or you can add a teenie bit of sugar without blowing the calorie count.
