Another poll

Squeaking under the wire to wish [livejournal.com profile] digitalwave a very happy birthday!

I am stunned and amazed to report that LANA LANG BEAT JOHN SHEPPARD in the official hair-off. I am using my shiniest Lana hair icon in celebration; apologies to the non-Lexana folks out there, but her hair in this shot mesmerizes me. My only explanation for Lana's victory is that no one let the SGA folks in on the fact that we were having this contest.

For some reason, a discussion about Stephen Colbert in my comments made me realize that I don't know where all of you folks on my flist are from. Now, I've seen those weird "plot you on a map via your IP address" things, which seem a little stalkery and privacy invading to me, but if you're comfortable saying in a general way where you live, take my poll.

[Poll #762966]

Just wanted to point out that although I do live in the Northeast for now, I am a soon to be SoCal girl :) And I am dying to go. California is definitely special.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

[identity profile] amandajane5.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I identified Southeast, but my area's generally called the Mid-Atlantic - we're the border states, a damn Yankee to our Southern neighbors, and a Southern belle to our Northern. At least in my experience.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was a little cavalier about the US regions. I lived in New Jersey for 4 years, so I actually should know better.

[identity profile] myownghost.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
i live in the DC suburbs and was torn, like [livejournal.com profile] amandajane5, but went with southeast too. maryland was a border state, too.

just to be precise, not to complain, honest! i'm a midwesterner at heart, forever.

I'm pretty sure that Kentucky is considering in the Midwest.

Thanks so much for the birthdays wishes, sweetie. :)

*hugs*

You're welcome! And yeah, I'd put Kentucky in the midwest, myself.

I live in England but I'm FROM New Zealand. It's important that people know this.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I can definitely see how that would be important!

[identity profile] sadface.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know why, England clearly being so SO much better. *nods*

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I live in California, but I'm *from* the midwest, where there is actual weather. Sometimes I feel it necessary to point this out. I just assumed Kate had a strong attachment to the place where the seasons are backwards correct from her perspective.
:P

[identity profile] sadface.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
I would like it to be noted that I am from NORTHERN England and not silly Southern England, which is full of Southerners and therefore, crap.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Okey dokey! (I'm missing the cultural reference here, I think, unless you're just insulting Kate.)

[identity profile] sadface.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Southern England is where the toffs live. Northern England is full of common scum people. It has a delightfully higher crime rate, larger percentage of people in receipt of benefits than the south. It also has the honour of being the teenage pregnancy capital of europe.

I'm so proud. :D

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm from the South :D

It's very expensive though, so I'd rather live in the North...

[identity profile] blisstasteful.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
I second that. And having lived down thee with the toffs I have the comparative data to prove it. Hee!

Well, if we get pesky, I'm american too. Just not from the United States.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I did put USA, not America, in the top poll! "My fellow Americans" is a phrase the president always uses to address the country--it was a joke.

Oh I know! I wasn't serious! I just wanted to mess with you :)

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I figured, but you know, I have layers of free-floating guilt that are capable of attaching anywhere.

[identity profile] pepperjackcandy.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
My fellow Americans, what region do you live in?

Texas!

Which breaks up among Southeast (through about Houston), Southwest (out by El Paso), Great Plains (the "panhandle" region), and, er, the I-35 corridor (from the Oklahoma border through Laredo, including San Antonio, where I live).

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I did actually think about making Texas a separate category, but lj puts a limit on how many options you can list in the same question.

[identity profile] polarenigma.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Technically I live in the Southeast. In my heart, I'm still in DC.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I understand. In my heart I still live in Bloomington.
