My Clex rec of the day is

I'm kind of cheating by picking Kate's most recent story, because I was having a hard time deciding among them. I love how all of her stories acknowledge the anger between Lex and Clark this season, and yet often still manage to find some sort of resolution, even if it's not "happily ever after." "Jigsaw" is a lovely, short piece set immediately after the events in "Reckoning," in which Lex and Clark turn to each other more from habit and desperation than anything else--and have hot, fucked up sex. I love how much Lex needs to take care of Clark in this, despite everything. And the last line is *killer*.

My "Smallville mystery rec of the day" is

bittermint's "Best Served Cold." (Chlana, Chlark, Clex, with Chlex implied--a lot of this is very noncon).

Chloe and Lex are *not* nice people in this--they've been hurt, they're blaming Clark and Lana, and they're out for sexual vengeance. This is definitely *not* sweet and gentle non-con; it's cruel and angry, but also *scorchingly* hot--especially the Chlana. (If you don't like seeing Lex and Chloe quite this bitter, the sequels, "A Mutually Satisfying Arrangement," and "One Year, Three Lives" work out some of the consequences of this story, as Clark, Lex and Chloe try to rebuild their relationships in the aftermath of this).

My "blast from the past" rec is Star Trek: TNG, Anon sisters, "Escher dreams," (Picard/Q)

I loved ST:TOS as a kid, but it was ST:TNG that first sucked me into organized fandom, back on BBS's in the late '80s and then on usenet in the early '90s. I can't quite remember if TNG was the very *first* slash I read, but I do know that Picard/Q really sucked me in and held on to me for a long time. I had a huge crush on Picard, and I loved the antagonistic relationship he and Q always had on the show. I was also intrigued by the possibilities inherent in having a relationship with someone who is omnipotent.

"Escher dreams" is a wonderful example of the benefits (and drawbacks) of being involved with an omnipotent entity. Picard is having amazing erotic dreams, and he can't figure out who his lover is, but he's starting to suspect the dreams are linked to a spatial anomaly. Also, he keeps waking up right when the dreams get to the good part! This is a very long story, and there's some interesting plot to spice up the porn, but my favorite part is the slow buildup to the revelation of *who* Picard's dream lover is, and how he comes to terms with it. Picard is such a controlled character that I love stories that plausibly convince me that his desire is so strong it can overcome his iron self-discipline.

Here's an excerpt:

You're easy to please," the man responded, stroking him now, getting him to sigh and moan as the pressure increased. "I just have to move the earth."

"What?" Picard said, his attention somewhat overwhelmed with the feel of all his blood rushing to his cock. Oh, he needed this. It felt wonderful, and somehow as he stared into the spatial anomaly outside his ship and felt that hand work on his body, it were as if the two things were connected, and the anomaly were making love to him.

"I said you seem like sex given form and voice," his lover said now. "How about I drag down your pants and jerk you off?"

"Yes!" Picard shouted.

He was afraid suddenly of making too much noise, of being too active or something... but then his lover fulfilled his plan, releasing his painfully aroused cock from his tight uniform into the warm air of the room. Then a gentle series of touches coaxed feeling from him, tracing that vein underneath, dancing around the swollen head, then simply wrapping around him and stroking lightly, then harder, then harder still, until he came, joyously, into that grasp. He laughed with delight and turned to kiss his lover with an offer to pleasure him next.

And woke up.
