Smutrecs fest, day 6
If today's recs have a common theme, it is "scary father figures."
Today's Clex rec of the day is
hrd02ca's "And Desire Shall Fail" .
"And Desire shall fail" is still a WIP, but it looks like it will be finished soon, and believe me, it is worth the wait! It's an AU in which Clark was captured by scientists at a very young age and subjected to many cruel experiments (hence its inclusion among "scary father figures" day), and eventually retaliated by taking over the world when he finally escaped. Oh, and one of his slaves just happens to be Lex Luthor. The overlord has no time for most of his slaves, but there's something about Lex.....
Overlord Kal is one of my favorite Clarks ever, but what I love about
hrd02ca's story is that it has very realistic characterizations of both Kal-El and Lex, and Lex does not simply submit to Kal-El willingly. (I also love, for some reason, how *incompetent* Kal is in this story, since that seems very realistic for a dictatorship by someone with no political or government experience whatsoever). You should be warned that the porny parts don't really start until Book 4 or so, but the build-up is *definitely* worth it.
Edited to add This story is now complete, and the whole story can be read at the author's website here: http://members.shaw.ca/hrd02ca/adsf.html
The mystery Smallville rec of the day is Kel,
"Invitation." (INCEST, non-connish overtones, character death implied offscreen) Lionel/Lex, Lionel/Jonathan implied, Clark/Jonathan implied
Every so often I get the urge to read smut that is evil and twisted and deeply perverse. (I think I actually developed this desire in Harry Potter fandom, and I know I sometimes wish there were some Smallville authors that were just as creatively perverse as certain HP authors). This story comes the closest of any in Smallville fandom to what I mean: this is beyond ordinary Luthorcest and into twisted dirty!wrong territory.
In this story, the price that Jonathan paid for Clark's adoption was sexual service to Lionel, and up until now he wasn't entirely unwilling to pay that price. However, when he is forced to watch Lionel and Lex's sex games, he reaches a breaking point where he can't cope with his own horrified arousal and the other feelings the scene awakens in him. Like Jonathan, the reader is drawn into the eroticism of the scene (though I hope the reader's *response* isn't as violent as Jonathan's).
The blast from the past rec for today is Apache,
"Famous Vachons for 400, Please Alex" . (Lucien Lacroix/Javier Vachon)
The reason today is "bad dad" day is that it is Lucien Lacroix day. (Ok, technically it's "Forever Knight" day, but although I did enjoy Nick Knight's angsty vampiric manpain as he sought redemption for his evil deeds, really the reason I kept watching was Lucien Lacroix, his vampiric master). Lacroix makes Lionel Luthor look like Jonathan Kent. He is pure evil, but amazingly charismatic and compelling. This story does a terrific job of conveying his distinctive blend of magnetism and menace. Apache is an *amazing* writer (I think she actually got some of her FK stuff professionally published, if I recall correctly), and she actually made me tolerate Tracy Vetter (Nick's new partner in the third season, who replaced the beloved Schanke) and Javier Vachon (a vampire in love with Tracy).
In this story, Vachon is very, very straight--and has been for his 400 years as a vampire--but LaCroix manages to persuade him that sexual orientation is really beside the point for vampires.
