Ooh, Ikin! I like it! It didn't even occur to me there was a TWOP board for this--I'll have to go look.
I'm glad I'm not the only one flailing a lot (because I am, literally, flailing a lot--I look like a giant floppy fish, I swear).
See, I think he is, just going by the Mystery Genre's Economy of Characters (since I do think Heroes is part-mystery): the killer is always someone introduced to the audience fairly early on. If Sylar is not also Claire's dad *or* any of our actual protagonists, then that leaves unsettingly attractive, thought-blocking black guy as Sylar. And it's entirely possible that one of the potential Big Reveals (this is pure, unspoiler-based spec on my part) is that Sylar, if that's really him, has his own agenda separate from Claire's dad despite the fact that they're clearly working together when it comes to finding out what our protagonists are capable of.
Hmm, you're right about the economy of characters thing, though of course that may also mean he's one of the actual protagonists rather than thought-blocking guy. But I guess thought-blocking guy is probably the logical suspect, and it would be very interesting if he had his own separate agenda. Like, maybe Claire's dad thinks he's controlling Sylar when he's actually being controlled.
"Only take the one." *flails entirely out of my chair* Yes, and which one is it going to be? That's killing me! Just like the Hiro reveal--I had stopped watching the clock at that point and didn't realize we were at the end of the show already. I literally screamed when the credits rolled. This show does cliff-hangers really well!
And I'm with you--I'm totally happy to take this roller coaster wherever it's going, because it's a lot of fun.
