BSG recs

Here are some Lee-centered fics, just for [livejournal.com profile] bop_radar. (All of these are short, so you don't have to wait until the weekend to read them). And for other people like us who are still new to BSG, no spoilers in any one of these past season one:

[livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns's "Seventy-Eight," a lovely angsty Kara/Lee story from Kara's point of view, set immediately after "The Hand of God" (so only season one spoilers), available here

Another story by [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns; no overt Kara/Lee, but a nice Lee POV, reflecting on his relationship (or lack thereof) with Starbuck, Lucky at Cards, again, spoilers only through season one (Colonial Day).

The Lee/Kara is pretty subtle in this one, but it has a fantastic Lee POV and is a really interesting look at the realities of life on Galactica, and what we really live for: [livejournal.com profile] sangga's Supply and Demand. No spoilers for any episode; it's set sometime in season one.

*hugs you hard*
I can read these on my lunchbreak! *dies of happy*

You are an absolute GODDESS for reccing these. They're brilliant. I especially loved Supply and Demand. It was such perfect Lee, really subtly drawing out his character, and the whole premise was fascinating and really well constructed and plotted. Oranges! *g* It doesn't matter that the Lee/Kara wasn't overt action: they are all about the unsaid and the undone so I'm sure I'd find a lot of Lee/Kara fics a real stretch of believability. These were not at all!

I wish I could claim credit, but I'm just raiding other people's rec pages. (You're really right that a lot of Kara/Lee stuff stretches believability, though--wow, there's a lot of badfic for this pairing!) Yes, Supply and Demand was definitely my favorite of these, too.

Yeah--I have heard. I can imagine. It makes me very sad that there's a lot of badfic and yet I sort of see why. Lots of misguided authors who think having them get together will work just because they want them too. Bluch! Kara/Lee would be very hard to write--they've nearly died in each others arms and still not had sex. It would take So Damn Much to make it happen.

I am just going to have keep rewinding the kiss over and over and over and over and over and over ...

As far as I can make out, Kara/Lee is the most popular pairing in the fandom, so it's not surprising, really, that there's lots of badfic. Once a certain criticial threshold of stories have been written in any pairing, people stop thinking they have to *show* how it might work and just assume that it does. Or they just project their own desires into it regardless of canon.

You're so right about the critical threshold. Somehow this bothers me a lot more with a pairing like Kara/Lee than Clex. I am reasonably tolerant of absurd Clex fics, because I'll read Clex for humour and simple eroticism, not necessarily plot. But that's not what I want from Kara/Lee at all. I see *why* it's happened, but it will still annoy me. They are so well-written and understated within the show, that much fanfic will be a letdown.
