That absolutely gorgeous "Golden Compass" meme, behind the cut. (And incidentally, the website really makes me want to see the film, even though I got very annoyed with that series in book 3).

Oh, this meme is wonderful!! I think yours is spot on.

Hey, what made you annoyed with the books in book three? I remember loving them but strangely can't remember the third book... that doesn't bode well! (But the movie looks gorgeous!

I'm not sure I can even remember--I got them for Christmas a couple years ago, and while I liked his pseudo-Gnosticism in the first two books, I think it's something about the really obvious way in which god turned out to be the bad guy, or something like that. It was my religion geek thing--I have very high standards for people playing with religious themes, but I don't actually quite remember how the books end! And I think I loaned them all to someone and never got them back, so I can't reread.

Ah, yup, I remember it having a pretty dark take on religion. *foggy* I can imagine you having issues with that. *nods*

Ohhh! Yours is a butterfly now! *stares*

Amen to this.

As soon as I saw where it was going (the end of book 2) I gave up.

I think I only finished because I already had the third book, and I was on a long car trip or something and needed distraction.

That sounds like so many Japanese roleplaying games right now.

What was your daemon initally? After I took the quiz, it was a wolf.
A very pretty wolf, too. :)

WEIRD. It was a spider, originally--I wasn't very enchanted with it, even though I think the meme as a whole is gorgeous.

It really is. I am also quite enamored of the way it can change based on the feedback of your friends. Very cool!

I totally agree. So far I've been a spider, a wolf, a butterfly and a rabbit. I wonder what I'll be next?

How fun! I think yours is pretty spot on.
I'm not familiar with this series but it does sound interesting. And the site is gorgeous. I'll have to go post my daemon now. :)

Was I a buttefly when you looked? Now I'm a rabbit! This meme is endlessly amusing.
