Smallville "Prototype"
The future is here, and it is iconic.
Well, I can see that I may as well abandon all pretense to meta for the rest of the season, since this is the third episode in a row where I am basically reduced to squee. For me, the squee began with that great shot of the Luthorcorp satellite, followed by Lex directing his scientists in a sexy but menacing way as (it appeared) Luthorcorp was under attack. SO iconic, holy god, it gave me chills. And I loved the twist that it was all a test of his supersoldier. (And dude? Did Wes kill all those soldiers to get to the lab? I think we have to assume he killed at least *some* of them, which makes Lex's "Get some fresh guards, I want to see him do it again" even more chilling. And then ordering the senator killed! And ordering Lois killed! And the threat to Lana at the end. And "I'm working on procuring another"--would that be Clark, perchance? Yes, iconic Lex Luthor is in the house.
And iconic Lois Lane is quickly following!!! I love that they gave her a personal connection with Wes, so that there is a really strong motivation for her to go after Lex besides her desire to succeed as a journalist, because a passion for helping people is very much the way I see iconic Lois Lane. Plus I loved her doggedness going after the Senator, and how she was actually able to get past Wes' programming, at least for a while. Damn, she just rocked this episode.
I continue to love Lana as Lady McLuthor, but I think she's going to psych herself up to start sleeping with Lex again or she'll never continue fooling him (if she actually is--my guess is not). I love that she's kept up the truth-as-a-lie, though: "I'd never do anything to hurt the man I love."
And wow, I would really like to know what Lionel's game is. I love the development of Martha going to Washington (though is this just an easy way to give her less screentime? Is AOT going to be in less episodes, or something? Or are they just planning on using this as a way to widen the scope of the show?) and kind of owing it to Lionel--and wow, Lionel, way to maneuver Clark into supporting you when he's just threatened you. You really have to admire that sort of chutzpah. And *why* is Lionel taking notes in Kryptonian--just so Lex can't decipher them? Is Jor-El returning? Or some other hidden scheme? I really hope at *some* point in the show we actually find out what was up with that man!
I'm definitely looking forward to the finale now.

This episode actually amazed me, and I agree--the finale certainly has me salivating now.
I was highly surprised by this episode, but indeed most pleasantly surprised. So again I say SQUEE!!!

YUH-HUH! That was brilliant! Satellite wheeee!!!

Yes, yes, he did, I reckon! Lex is SO DARK, eeeee!!! *twirls*
I love that she's kept up the truth-as-a-lie, though: "I'd never do anything to hurt the man I love."
Yeah, though I found it hard to believe Lex wouldn't see through that. I do fear she'll probably have to sleep with him. Eep! At least he's busy a lot...

And here's where my fannish response interferes with my realistic response, because though I can certainly understand in the abstract why you wouldn't want to sleep with someone who violated your body that way, my fannish brain keeps going "but it's Lex! Who wouldn't be able to sleep with Lex? He's sexy even when evil!"

So... you've got me wondering whose bodies were all lined up at the end of the episode. I assumed they were Zoners from whom Lex would procure DNA, but your thoughts on it being Clark make more sense.
Seems the finale will be jam packed with info, among other things. *squee*

Note: I've checked a couple of recaps and they are all very vague, mentioning 'dozens of men in rows' or 'hundreds of bodies ready to become super soldiers'. Talk about CYA words. LOL.

I'm going to bed on the image of you chanting;)

I know. I KNOW. It was absolutely thrilling. He was absolutely thrilling. So was Lois. Lois ruled with a mighty fist.
I'm totally looking forward to the finale. The show's really stepped up its game in these last three eps.

Re: The future is here, and it is iconic
heee :;D
I love my flist being so diversed and polarized, and as boppy had this great archetype poll up, showing who you love, who you support, is saying more about you, than about said fictional characters *g*
and nods, lex is hot... and clark is pretty... I should have that signature in my comments, not just in my icon ;D
