JK Rowling: secret slasher?

I don't count Rowling's interviews as spoilery; I'm only cut-tagging because she mentions a new character in book 7 as a romantic interest of Dumbledore's, even though it's not specifically mentioned in the book:

"Answering a question posed to her at tonight's book reading at Carnegie Hall in New York, Harry Potter author JK Rowling said she "always thought Dumbledore was gay" and that he originally fell in love with the wizard Grindelwald.

Rowling also said she had read through Steve Kloves' script for the movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and corrected a passage in which Dumbledore was reminiscing about past loves by crossing it out and scrawling "Dumbledore is gay" over it.

Upon hearing her response, a hush fell over the audience in attendence and then applause exploded. Rowling remarked that if she had known that would be the response, she would've revealed her thoughts on Dumbledore earlier." Taken from here: http://www.hpana.com/news.20228.html

So where *is* all the Dumbledore/Grindewald slash, anyway?

i haven't read the books but have seen discussion of the DD/Grindelwald connection. surely there will be slash! (cool that she announced it publicly like that. but i'm bummed that she paired remus with tonks. heh. i love snupin.)

I know, considering how Remus really seemed to be coded as gay, it would have been nice if she had gone that way. And it would have been nice if she could have textually acknowledged it in the book. But still--it's pretty cool of her to say that.

I'm pretty convinced that Remus was bi. But at the same time, I think her handling of the Lupin/Tonks relationship was hackneyed. I sort of shipped them as WELL as Lupin/Snape until I saw what Lupin/Tonks was doing in the books.

Well, to be fair, she was pretty constrained in book 7 by telling everything from Harry's POV--but yeah, Remus/Tonks ended up pretty much a mess in the books.

yes, he was coded as gay or, as jenny says below, as bi. but it's still kind of a thrill for her to acknowledge DD this way. yip!

ilu. really. SNUPIN FOREVA!

yes, foreva! some of the best stories i've read in the fandom were snupin -- they play off each other so very well.

i agree with what you said to nora above, that lupin came across as bi. but then, in my world, everyone is bi, so maybe i'm not the best judge. *g*

Hee. You have a nice world, then.
