Quick Heroes thoughts
As usual, I'm wanting West to be torn apart slowly by rabid weasels. I'd also settle for him dying slowly from the virus. And this week my West hatred is affecting my Claire love, because I wanted her to stop being so goddamn stupid, especially about that "prank" they pulled that endangered her whole family. Sometimes I have to remind myself, oh yeah, teenage girl, but still: very very annoying. Though Noah being all secretive and non-disclosive isn't helping. I get why he's not talking to Claire, but couldn't he at least more specific with the warnings to his WIFE??
And speaking of things that are making me nuts, Mohinder! Ok, you are in an ethically very grey area and your only ally is looking a little hinky, but for heaven's sake, man, that doesn't mean you should go spilling your secrets to a man who's willing to risk a plague to save his own skin!! Seriously, you need to start using that brain of yours.
Matt, on the other hand, was entirely made of win this week.As far as I'm concerned, he wins in the good parenting sweepstakes--though Niki comes in a close second in taking away her own powers so as not to be a threat (even if that does mean she's started the plague--at least she didn't know about it). And I loved the way they managed to bring D.L. back--that really gave weight to the scenes with her fears.
I was so completely uninterested in Peter's plotline I could barely pay attention, though I am very glad that he now has his memory back, because that whole Ireland plotline was driving me nuts. A pity if he left his poor girlfriend trapped in the future, though. I was pretty excited that mystery guy turned out to be Kensei. (Um, I know his has another name besides Kensei, I just can't think of it).
And I was also happy they wrapped up the Hiro storyline. I know it was kind of dumb of him, but I really did like the fact that Hiro tried to bring back Kensei to the light side of the force. I'm a little worried for Ando, now, if Kensei's going to go after everyone Hiro loves (and I do wonder what happened to the swordsmith's daughter after Hiro left, as well. And I assume Kensei killed Hiro's dad and the rest of the older generation, yes? Didn't Bob exposit that for us at some point?]
And is it completely wrong that I now want fic where Kensei kidnaps Ando and threatens to kill him and then Hiro offers his own life in exchange but Kensei doesn't want Hiro dead, he wants kinky sex instead? Maybe with both of them? Um, yes, I know, my enemy slash kink is not widely shared, but it SHOULD be. And dude, this is totally like Obi-Wan/Anakin slash, what with the guilt Hiro would be feeling about betraying Kensei and stealing his woman and turning him to the dark side and almost destroying history, and Kensei with several hundred years of bitterness but underneath it all is a soft gooey center of Hiro being his teacher and the first person to believe in him, and also from the perspective of 400 years now seeming so young and cute and in need of sexual corruption.

You mean there are some people who don't think that archenemies fucking is the hottest thing ever? This is strange and frightening to me. *runs off into corner and makes Superman and Lex Luthor do the nasty* But, seriously, Kensei/Hiro would be hot. Why isn't there porn now?
And, eek! Now I fear for Ando! Ando is just one of those people you don't mess with, yo.
And I'm so very happy that most of the plotlines that dragged are now over. That's got to be good, right?

Yeah, that's why so many people left SV fandom when Lex got seriously bad. (Well, that and season 4 in general). They wanted buddyslash, not enemyslash.
Seriously, Kensei/Hiro would be hot. Why isn't there porn now?
Yes, someone should definitely write this NOW.
I hope there's going to be some more forward movement in the show, now that they've finally resolved some of the more annoying plotlines.

Maybe now that Kensei is in the present, we'll see some Kensei/Hiro?

OMG, when he started in with that "is this a trap," nonsense, I wanted to knock him around even more than usual. He pursued her, not the other way around. She tried to push him away several times, including at least once after he revealed that he had a run-in with HRG. He's just so galling to me, manipulating and essentially bullying her into a relationship, pushing at her constantly to open with him, and when she finally does tell him a truth she believes he's got a right to know, he loses his mind and accuses her of being the creepy weird one? WTFever, West. I hope you catch the virus and die.

See, I don't even think the Teenaged Girl excuse works for Claire any more. Noah took a bullet and had his own memory wiped to keep her safe from the Company. She knows the Company is just that hard-core, and it's honestly not acceptable to me any more that she's so blithe about all this when she knows her family's safety really is at stake. Yes, Noah could be more forthcoming, but Claire knows the score. At this point, she's acting out of pure selfishness despite knowing the score, and I can't excuse her any more.
I get why he's not talking to Claire, but couldn't he at least more specific with the warnings to his WIFE??
I know, right? Especially after promising her no more secrets. Especially after knowing she can keep her mouth shut.

I've thrown my hands up when it comes to Mo. At this point, it's clear that the level of his intelligence is directly proportional to the needed story trajectory: if the story can't move forward unless Mohinder does something colossally stupid, then he's a dumbass for that week. If the story can't move forward unless he displays some measure of cleverness, then he's smart for that week. The creative team knows they need Isaac's painting to be accurate (because it's established now that they always depict something that actually occurs, even if it doesn't occur the way anyone expects), and there's apparently no way to make it come true without once again making Mohinder almost criminally naive and dumb.
Matt, on the other hand, was entirely made of win this week.
Yeah, I have no complaints about Matt this week. Nathan was also awesome because he kept asking the questions that needed to be asked when no one else had the sense to do so, and he wasn't put off by Bob's attempts to dissemble.

Yeah. And showing up at her house to make waffles is just CREEPY, I'm sorry. That boy has no sense of boundaries.
She knows the Company is just that hard-core, and it's honestly not acceptable to me any more that she's so blithe about all this when she knows her family's safety really is at stake.
I'm not actually excusing her behavior--I was pretty angry at the choices she was making in this episode--but on the other hand, I think she's still pretty freaked out at the idea that her dad kidnapped West, so I can see where her impetus to defy him is coming from. It's one thing to know in the abstract that your dad used to do bad things; it's another to be confronted with an actual person he hurt, especially when you like that person. Of course, it would be easier to sympathize with her if West wasn't such a manipulative creep!

Yes, and that's really disappointing for someone who's supposed to be so brilliant. Though to be fair, confessing to Bob does strike me as actually more in character for him that being successful in a long-term undercover operation, because he does tend more toward scientific smart than people smart (see: how long Sylar was able to fool him). I'm actually a little more disappointed that Noah didn't see that sort of danger with him--Noah is the one who is people smart, and unless he's actually *trying* to drive Mohinder into the arms of the Company for some long-term plan of his own, he didn't handle Mohinder very well at all.
Nathan was also awesome because he kept asking the questions that needed to be asked when no one else had the sense to do so, and he wasn't put off by Bob's attempts to dissemble.
Oh, yes, how did I leave Nathan out? I loved the way he and Matt were acting as a team, too.
