Dear Grey's Anatomy
Thank you for being the one show I watch that doesn't rip my heart out of my chest with its season finale. In fact,
I actually did cry while watching this, but it was happy tears. And I have to say, I was kind of amazed, since I've been kind of meh about most of the plotlines this season, but there were so many happy-making things about this episode I can barely count them:
1. Bailey is a Star Wars nerd!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, that was pretty much the BEST THING EVER, her whole Han Solo speech to idiot cement boy.
2. Callie and Erica FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had hoped they were actually going to go there, but I was afraid they would chicken out, and they did not. I was so worried about what they would do to Callie after she and George got divorced, because I really liked her, and I totally love this whole plotline. It seems to have built really organically, and I love how she was convincing herself to take a risk the whole time she was talking to concrete-boy's not quite girlfriend.
3. Alex just about broke me in this episode, I swear. Half the time I hate his guts, and I spent a lot of the last episode thinking he was being completely moronic ignoring Rebecca's symptoms, but the reveal about his mom really put a lot of things in perspective for me. And what can I say, I have a serious bulletproof kink for watching sarcastic defensive guys getting put in situations where they lose all their defenses. I'm sure that he and Izzie hooking up cannot end well, but given the circumstances I can hardly blame her.
4. I loved that we not only got lots of romantic climaxes (I also loved the Chief getting back with his wife; the MerDer stuff bores me and usually I just try to ignore it) but also professional climaxes, too. So many great moments: Meredith giving Cristina the sparkle pager (seriously, those two are my real OTP on this show); Cristina getting to shine in surgery, and standing up to Erica; Bailey giving Izzie the clinic, because she had really earned it by making the tough choices, and showing how far she's come from the Denny Duquette disaster; George getting a second chance at taking the exam (thank God, since George as an intern all of next year would have been damn boring); and Cristina finally figuring out how hypocritical she's been to Lexie all year, after the Chief stands up to Erica for her, and finally teaching Lexie something.
There were only a couple things that bugged me about this episode: Meredith really should face some consequences for going ahead with the clinical trial without permission from the Chief--regardless of their personal history; and it really bugged me that Lexie read everyone's files. But overall, I really enjoyed the episode, especially in comparison to all the depressing finales I've seen lately.
Oh, Grey's. I always think I'm going to quit watching and then you draw me back with your soapy goodness.

Girl, Bailey even reached into extended universe canon to make her points. That scene was the highest of her highs last night, but honestly, she was on fire the entire episode. Chandra Wilson was just a wonder to behold the whole two hours.

This was my favorite of the professional climaxes because I really liked that Cristina took what Chief did for her to heart, that she didn't let it pass, that she learned from it and then paid that forward with Lexie. It was great.

That's exactly how I felt when it was all over.

I know! With the twins and everything! She clearly reads the novelizations.

Yeah, she really was. I also really liked her speech to Izzie when Izzie was still dithering about doing the right thing with Alex and Rebecca.

Yes, I agree. Though in general, I'm just happy to see Cristina get her fire back, because that's what I love most about her character, and between the post-Burke reaction and her interactions with Hahn, I just haven't been enjoying her storyline much lately.
